Just tell yourself that being nervous is a part of the fight or flight mechanism of your body, and that everyone feels that as well as you. I saw a famous actress recently on a late night talk show - I can't recall who it was - but she told of always being nervous on a stage and this is a person who does that for a living, so if she feels nervous before that, you should not worry that you do as well before public speaking. i once heard of someone who got over that by imagining the audience in their underwear so that may help as well. You can read books such as the one I will give you a link to and that may raise your confidence to help as well. Just do the practice in front of friends or the mirror thing and then tell yourself that you can do it and you will. Good Luck.

I used to be nervous about acting for community theater...
The "trick" that worked for me was to go to a public place and imagine myself speaking loudly to all who could hear my voice. Somehow this lowered my inhibitions and was able to act in front of large crowds...
Another way is to practice several times your presentation, report, speech - whatever, by yourself, then a good friend who can give you suggestions. Get used to saying what needs to be said, and in that way you'll be prepared and it all will become habitual.

Be proud of your self and think positive and you must look people straight in their eyes.
Be proud of what you are your parents will not make another you and tell to your self that you can do it and that nobody can stop you. It is just self control when you speak in public do not think about the public imagine that you are on a beach and you have a lot of fun
Remember always smile

Honestly, practicing really helps, but once your on stage, I found that if i looked over the persons head or at their shirt...but deff not at their face it didnt let me be nervous. They thought I was making eye contact, but never knew i wasn't. As long as I didn't see their eyes on me, i was ok. GOOD LUCK

Well I am very fearful on this subject. I can't possibly stand in front of a large crowd.

I used to do public speaking after school, and one day our teacher decided to share her secret.
Basically, pinch your bum before going on. Trust me it works (though I kinda scratch my leg beforehand instead of the bum)

THINK ABOUT SOMETHING VERY NICE AND THINK, THERE IS NO PUBLIC AT ALL. TRY TO IMAGINE SOME TOTAL DIFFERENT SURROUNDING AT YOU.
