0 F or lower is the recommended freezer temperature. At this temperature, bacterial growth will be stopped. However, freezing does not kill most bacteria, nor does it stop flavor changes that occur over time. Though food will be safe indefinitely at 0 F, quality will decrease the longer the food is in the freezer.

Different freezers will operate at different temperatures depending on their purpose. Food safety guidelines promote that commercial freezers should store food between -15 to -21 degrees. A commercial ice cream freezer will be set to fluctuate it's temperature between -5 and -15 degrees, this it to ensure that ice cream doesn't become too hard to eat. if you want to check the temperature of your own freezer you should place a themometer in the middle of your freezer and make sure nothing is touching it.
