It would depend on your personal view of the symbol and the emotion you feel in the dream when the symbol is seen... Most people see 'snakes' as evil and deceptive. Your description suggests a negative reaction - the color could add to your interpretation, e.g., Red may suggest anger or lust. You describe saving others from approaching snakes. Are you feeling that people in your life need to be made aware of deception or evil that they may be in danger of falling victim to?
--continued--

Just to add a POSITIVE note on snakes: Though the "snake in the grass" gets more present-day airplay -- The ancient symbol of the SNAKE(s) coiling around the staff or rod is thought by some to symbolize DNA ; or possibly to illustrate the flow of kundalini energy or the life force about the spine. Whichever the case may be, these snakes have stood lighting the doorway of the 'HEALER' for centuries past. They are used across all the fields of medicine as a symbol of life and health.
Perhaps you could visualize that scary snake in your dreams transforming into a rejuvenating life-giving force glowing and flowing thru you HEALing THY SELF so that you then might have more to give to those around you ... Breathe in - Breathe Out.
Love your puppy - LOve your brother .
OR, something like that. LOL

Have you watched or heard anything reciently to do with snakes? Are you scared of them? It is probably just that something has put them into your mind. It most likely doesn't mean anything at all. I've had a dream the past two nights about a freaky evil witch person from this film. Sometimes I can dream about the randomist of things a few times. Somewhere in the course of the day or week, it has been put into your mind, even if you dont remember. Someone could have said something about a twig that made you think of a snake even!

You too? I have had a dream that comes every so often. I am in a cave, following a blue light, and all around me are slithering snake piles. Yet they don't touch me. My guru said, that it means, I am very lucky and have a good future ahead.
For yours it could be just waking dream. You know a dream, where you feel you are falling down a mountain, and wake up all of a sudden, kind of like a foreplay from unconscious to consciousness, which is broken by door bells or phones or people waking you up.

Snake is your open enemy. To dream that your fingers are injured or have been chopped off, denotes your anxieties about your ability to accomplish some demanding task or perform in some waking situation. One of your opponents in your work place is likely to become a hurdle in your work. Be careful of the enemy in your office.

based on South East Asia beliefs, snakes symbolise disease and black magic. in the other hand, for the women, if you dream bitten by the snake you might meet someone. if you dream bitten by the snakes, and you feel the pain, you might be in trouble.

your dream is one about false fears. snakes are not something to be dreaded. we dream of symbols we have been taught are signs or evil or righteousness but are not. Your dream indicates you have many false fears of life concerning your family. You worry mostly about things that have little bearing on life, though you may feel they are important. you need to discover priorities and decide what is important to live a wonderful life and what can be ignored as unimportant or frivolous.
