Themed parties are great at that age, I suggest like a Pixar Cars party, or a spiderman party... I would also have it at the leisure center. Some parents feel awkward of comming to someones home for the first time. So why not do the introductions on common ground.

I would book the leisure center especially if it's in the winter.. That way there's plenty of room, parking and for the kids to run around ! I had a Disney CARS themed party and my boys ages 1 and 3 LOVED it. Ours was at home but, it was summer so we used our big backyard. Which is why I suggest the center it will easier in snowy weather. You can make games and decorate.. Also, do the food buffet style. That should be fun...

Why not just do a fancy dress party? My 5 year old this year just had a small tea party in the house - parents just left the children - 4 of them. Last year when she was 4 she had a bouncy castle party at our local hall - 26 children - that was also good. I as a parent, when my daughters are invited to parties hate them with a passion - Id rather leave them at the party and leave straight away! Have fun!

Themed parties are wonderful, especially if your child wants one. I think either place is great but think about what is easier for you. :) Sometimes having to organize at a different place is more difficult or getting your home clean and ready can be more difficult. As a parent, I wouldn't mind either. Best of luck and have fun!

If your child likes a certain theme than go with that. It might be easier and less expensive to do it at your house, but then again if you want to avoid cleanup and hostess duties it might be easier to have it somewhere. some parents feel more comfortable staying with thier child at a party when it is held at a public place. many places will let you supply your own decorations and cake.
