Only get a tattoo if it's what you really want, not just because your friends have them.

Each element (Air, Army, Navy) and each unit have their own "guidelines" for tattoos. Let's just put it this way, they are not as popular in the military as they used to be many years ago. The primary reason is the risk of infection and also the fact that many people in the military have reasons to wear short sleeve shirts etc., many of which are see through. If you ever watched the movie called "An officer and a gentleman" you would have seen a new recruit for the officer training program being chewed out for having a tattoo. Think about it VERY carefully before getting any tattoo. It is permanent and can cause you more grief than comfort, especially if it has any reference to a person, including MOM. If you intend to be an officer, drop the idea of a tattoo of any kind completely. Hope this helps.

This is a personal choice. I have 5 tattoos and would not remove one of them. I chose things that are personal to me and they are placed where no one will really see them because they are memorials for me. This is something that you should really think about. If you are thinking about doing it just because everyone else has one then don't do it. That is the same as peer pressure and you will likely regret doing it in the future. Wouldn't you rather be yourself than just like everyone else? If you really do want one you should consider how your family may feel. You have to live with them and the tattoo for a very long time!!!

Of course it's OK not to have a tattoo, don't feel pressurised into something you don't want to do, take your time, put it off until you are sure that you want a tattoo, then and only then should you consider getting permanently marked.

ps Get custom work if you do, something that no-one else has, that way you can be an individual even with joining everyone else.

Of course it's ok not to have a tatoo. I've survived many years without a single one on my body. As I get older, I'm more and more thankful that I didn't get one. Do what you feel like doing. But don't do it just because everyone else is doing it. Be sure it's something you're willing to wear for the rest of your life.

It is up to you. I got one many yrs ago because I wanted to. Now days you can have them removed and that often also leaves a scar the ink itself may be gone but the skin is still damaged. It is not as bad as what it used to be but it from what I understand cost just about as much as it would to get one. My tattoo is not visible unless I pull up my shirt sleeve, many branches of the service now say no to any tattoo's that are obscene or outlandish. But it is over all up to you. Do what you want provided you are of age.

It's your body, so do not get a tattoo unless YOU want too. Do not do it because you your friends are. I have one tattoo, and I didn't get it until I was 37 years old. Like I said, don't copy anyone.

Nope, I don't think tattoos are all that they seem to be. I mean it's your body, so do what you want ,but I don't think they are a big deal like people make them sound to be. Do what you want and what you think will be right, don't let your peers influence you to do stuff that you're not too sure about!!

The only good motivation for getting a tattoo is because YOU want one. If you don't want a tattoo, don't get one! That's fine.
