Ive had severe back and neck problems, including 2 spinal fusions...a recent MRI and CT Scan have shown only 2 healthy disks in my entire back and neck...including 2 herniated disks and a bone sticking out in my neck hitting a nerve. I have been on medications for 8 years, 5 since my first surgery...have had the epidurals, injections and all that..including a pain pacemaker which didnt work either. It has sent me into a deep depression on and off over the years, and I am still in so much pain....How does one keep oneself in a proper mind frame, and get over, and move on when you are in severe pain and dont know if it will ever go away??

Initially you know what has happened in the past, as listed above, but that is it, the past. The future, no one has a crystal ball, so the future will unfold as it unfolds and you will deal with problem if and when they arrive. Therefore you need to stay fixed on the present. That can be a second, minute, hour, twelve hours. You can only deal with what is happening in the present and if you have pain, you have pain and have to accept it. You are allowing the pain to control your life, rather than saying 'I am a Human, I have a life, I am not giving into the pain!' Pain is just that, a perception and once you get depressed the perception is altered, makes pain worse. Therefore self medicate, honest, read a funny book, read jokes, watch a lot of comedy and laugh. When you laugh you release your own pain killers, so use this system. That is the reason behind the saying 'Laughter is the Best Medicine!'

Can the doctor clip the nerve that is causing the severe pain to give you some relief? Looks like that would be better than all that suffering; if it is possible without making everything worse? It wouldn't hurt to ask.
God bless and good luck.

First, endure the pain. Second, accept the fact that pain maybe with you for the rest of your life. Third, Thank God you are alive.

Go on with life and enjoy it.
