I've actually seen it on a video on Youtube - I tried to find it again but had no success. It mentioned 8 hours of sleep, phone call time every night and an all-you-can-eat buffet. People often do go on about how BCT has gone soft.

Now I have actually read on usmilitary.about.com that US Marine Recruits get eight hours of sleep too, usually. It wouldn't surprise me if the US Army changed its policies.

In recruit training in the Australian Army, we get 8 hours of sleep, phone time each night and an all-you-can-eat buffet. I realise people are often against this sort of stuff because they had it harder in their day, but it actually makes sense. Except during the field phases, of course.

You'll take in information much more easily if you've had enough sleep. No worries, you're constantly working from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to sleep. Feeling sleepy has never made me feel the least bit more disciplined.

Phone time would be allowed at any time during deployment if it was practical and unobtrusive in all cases. Fifteen minutes a night to put your mind at ease, is that really so much to ask?

And everyone in my platoon lost weight no matter how much they ate.

no, way my husband got to call like 2 times, absolutely no cell phones. And about 8hrs of sleep whatever you will be lucky to get 5. The purpose of bct is to get you ready for war and to be a soldier.

lmao! i dont know what military ur entering but i know its not the US military-

let me break it down to u barney style...

1) u sleep how much ur Drill Sergeant says u do (usually like 5h- and dont hope ull sleep till the sun comes up)

2) u can eat how much and what type of chow ur Drill Sergeant tells u u can (and it will only b in ur mouth for a second and u have a total of 4min to eat it- u can taste it later)

3) u say good bye to ur cell phone till the nite before u graduate. u get a phone call when ur Drill Sergeant feels like giving u that privlage ( it will only b for 2min- if lucky and almost gonna graduate na max of 10m)

good luck and i do hope u pass this knowledege on to the tard that gave u that idea.

g' luck! :)

1) 8 hours of "rest" is only a "guideline" and NOT guarenteed
2) You can feed freely, but are only given a short amount of time to do so.
3) Absolutely NO CELL PHONES

If you don't believe me talk to a recruiter.

yes, yes, no.

No cell phones allowed, and you may only have 3 minutes to eat, but you can eat as much as you want in those three minutes,

as for the eight hours of sleep.. yes, but there will be getting woken up in the middle of the night to stand watch or getting up early to shine boots.
