i heard the training is still pretty tuff, But the treatment from the the drills have lightened up a bit. Basic training will never be a walk in the park. Most drills realize that how you perform in war in is a direct reflection of your leaders. im not so sure that most drills would want to set you up for failure, and have to be responsible for that. I also do understand that it depends on where you go. All males training bases are usually high speed. i guess the basic now you learn alot more urban warfare and engage in alot of livefire activities.

from what I was told it is easier on your mental health but still has the same physical standards, So I would say it is a huge stretch to say it is a walk in the park you still get your butt broken down and rebuilt the Army way.
I am also told they are using a card system to let the drill Sergent's know the recruit is stressed, I think this is pathetic we don't have the option to call time out in the field or hold up a card if we are stressed.

You know the thing that gets me is that every soldier looks back on their bct with pride, knowing they made it through. Playing the drills head games was, as I saw it, a right of passage. I think everyone has a story where they wanted to give up and a DS lit into their rear, and suddenly they were able to perform. Then again, I do remember people breaking under the pressure. I have no doubt that today's DS can adapt to his orders to provide effective training, even if they don't raise their voice as much.

are you kidding me? is that your criteria? holy crap... yeah, dont want a DI yelling at you and getting you all upset and have someone calling their mommy... jeez.. how the hell is someone supposed to be prepared for something like Iraq if their main concern is (not stating this is the askers concern btw, just in general, because i have heard some nancy boys on here whining about how rough Basic was, and the DI yelled at them.. lol) that a DI might yell at them.. well, if that is your concern, keep your sissy *** out of the military, and go to community college or something where they probably wont yell at you.

Our sons gf got back not to long ago. They had stress cards and the drill sgts weren't allowed to intimidate you or call you names.

Can you see someone in Iraq or Afghanistan holding up a stress card in the middle of a fight?

Perhaps, but it's still a boot camp, not a walk in the park. If you're looking for an easy ride I suggest you look elsewhere.

Gee, and I always thought the point was to push a person to see what they could take. I know I wouldn't want someone my life was depending on to have a nervous breakdown when it ment it could get someone killed.
