Allah means The God in Arabic and means the God of Abraham
Arabic-speaking Christians Jews and Muslims call God Allah(SWT)
The difference is in name only but different people even of the same religion can have completely incompatible concepts of God.
There are some Christians and Muslims and others whose concept of God is a hate-filled, capricious, moody,
egotistic,murderous,
unaccountable,irresponsible,
unjust but powerful divinity
and there are some who believe that God actually is
All-Merciful,All-Wise
All-Compassionate, all -Just
All-Good,Almighty and Beneficent

God is not a name- its like calling me human being.Christianity has God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Also there are several references to God - Yehoshua (Jesus), Jehovah, Yahweh... The word 'Allah' is the Arabic word for God, and this is also the English name for Elohim (Hebrew). God does not have a specific name like you or me. In the third chapter of Exodus, God appeared to Moses in the burning bush, he asked God who he can say the message is from when he reports to the pharaoh- he was told to say, "I AM WHO I AM" and that say "I AM has sent you,"
Thus God is the I AM- which translated into Hebrew is YHWH or Yahweh.

Also Christian and Muslim religion is different- not just the name. Muslims don't belive that Jesus is the son of God- a fundamental part of the Christian belief as this is the way to salvation. There can only be one true God. Therefore God and Allah are essentailly not the same.

Allah is an arabic word made up of two words
Al - means "The"
Ilah - means "God".
So combined it becomes "The God".
The same as "The Lord" in the Bible.
They both mean the same one God who has revealed the Books of Moses, David, Jesus pbt and Muhammad s.a.w.

If you read the quran you inshallah come to the conclusion that both the books have been revealed by the SAME ONE GOD.

Quran Sura 4. An-Nisaa.
171
O People of the Book! Do not transgress the limits of your religion. Speak nothing but the Truth about Allah. The Messiah, Isa (Jesus) the son of Maryam (Mary) was no more than a Rasool of Allah and His Word "Be" which He bestowed on Maryam and a Spirit from Him which took the shape of a child in her womb. So believe in Allah and His Rasools and do not say: "Trinity"." Stop saying that, it is better for you. Allah is only One Deity. He is far above from the need of having a son! To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and in the Earth. Allah Alone is sufficient for protection.

172
The Messiah (Jesus) never disdained to be the worshipper of Allah nor do the angels who are nearest to Allah. Whosoever disdains His worship and is arrogant will be brought before Him all together.

173
As for those who have faith and do righteous deeds, He will pay them their due compensation and give them more on His own from His grace, but He will inflict painful punishment on those who are disdainful and arrogant, and they will find
none (of those on whom they rely) to protect or help them besides Allah.

174
O mankind! There has come to you convincing proof of Truth from your Rabb. We have sent to you a glorious light
(Al-Qur'an) that shows you the Right Way clearly.

175
Now those who believe in Allah and hold fast to Him, Allah will soon cover them with His mercy and grace and will show
them the Right Way to Himself.

Jesus Christ was sent to the Jews ,If you read the Bible he was always discussing with the Jews about what wrong things they were doing. What is right and what is not. For example- throwing the tables of money lenders out of the temple.

You see a lot of prophets and books were revealed to the jews , still they went astray over the period of time .
The Jews did not accept, Jesus Christ.

The Christians have also gone astray from the message that all the previous prophets brought. Hence God has revealed his final and last book "The Quran " to guide mankind. Dont be like the Jews who rejected Jesus Christ.
Read the Quran and assess it yourself , do not go by what is said by others.
The Quran is available in all the language.

You have one life to decide whether Quran is the Word of God or not.

God is a generic term. Do you mean God the Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ who has other Names in the Bible - Elohim -
El Shaddai etc?
If so then Al'lah is not the same as Al'lah was received from an historical pantheon of gods. See Zwemmer (URL below) for a very detailed and referenced history of it.
However in my times in Muslim countries I have found few people appear to know this. It does however explain why a crescent moon is found at the top of some Mosques and on some flags of Islamic nations.

Actually the God of the Jews and Christians has many names and some are written in the Bible. But none of them are Allah. There was no prophesy of Mohammed, the word Allah comes from Mohammed not the Bible.

Well as a muslim.. we were told that God has a first name and it is Allah... calling him God is sort of not correct in the sence that its an adjective.. cause in paganism there are gods of everything.. but do they actually have names?...
the muslim god Allah is known to us muslims as the same god Jesus prayed to as Abraham, Moses, Noah, Adam, David, etc... .. Also you might not be aware, but arab Christians and Jews in the middle east refer to god in their books as Allah... There are many middle eastern Christians in Lebanon and their Christian god is Allah..

Christians worship Jesus Christ as God, part of the Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in the guarantee of Salvation by faith in Christ, not of works. We believe in a personal relationship with Christ/God, that we can know God in our lives of faith. Christ fulfilled the law and we live under the Grace of God, and live according to the Spirit of the Law by faith.

Islam worships Allah and their prophet Mohammed...they do not believe that Jesus is God, and they do not believe in the Triune nature of God, and they do not believe in a personal relationship with God. They do not believe in the guarantee of salvation, except for some newer traditions where only a martyr -someone who kills and dies for the faith is guaranteed paradise. One can be the most pious muslim and Allah can still decide to reject them according to his whim. Islam teaches that you must pray 3 times daily, changed to 5 times daily. In Islam you must live according to the Letter of the Law.

The God of Christianity and the God of Islam are not the same God. Only one can be true.

What we call God is no matter. what matters is how and what we see as God. God has many names in the Bible as to his character. If I see God as a God who will forgive me when I repent as a God who sees all, a God who I do not have to punish myself to make myself fit for heaven, Then I am on my way to seeing God as He is, a loving God who does not try to make me serve him through force, a God who accepts me as I am full of faults and sin, A God who is able to be three persons in one, as I also have since made in his image. Soul, body and spirit. I can then worship the one true God which I can call my heavenly Father.

Totally different. A simple reading of Islam teaching about Allah compared to simple reading of teaching about Christ and you will see they are totally dofferent. For one: The Trinity is totally incompatable with Islam.
