I am going to the US for the first time and I will be staying in Las Vegas. If someone calls me at my hotel room phone, will I also be charged for that call? Or will the charge only apply to the person calling me?

If I will be charged, do you guys have any idea how much it'll cost me?

Thanks.

It depends on the policy of the hotel, but usually no. The price list for such things should be in the hotel room, if not they can't charge you.

In Western countries there is usually a huge cost for making phone calls from your hotel. Don't make calls without checking first.

If you have a compatible mobile phone, often the most flexible option is to get a local card for the United States.

I know that the obvious answer ought to be "No", but in recent years when I have stayed at UK hotels they have found as many ways as possible to add little charges that they hope you wont notice. Some just do things like removing the kettle, so you have to buy a cup of coffee, others go as far as sending room service who say "Would you like fresh towels" you say yes, so they give you towels and put a charge on the bill. When I complained they said I had requested fresh towels. So I wouldn't be the least surprised if a hotel is charging for incoming phone calls, probably using the excuse that they have to come in via the hotel's own telephone system claiming its fair for them to charge.
