You have obviously never read the oath of enlistment for the armed forces. In swearing or affirming to that oath, you pledge to support the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. Since illegal aliens have no fealty with that document and no respect whatsoever for the laws of the republic that has that document as its charter of government, they would be worthless as dedicated members of the armed forces.
The law permits resident aliens to enlist. Many do, in hopes of gaining U.S. citizenship. But, they have to document their legal status in the U.S. before enlisting.

Regardless of what the rules to join the military are, they have allowed non legal residents to join, knowing that they are here illegally. The United States has done this during every war. Will it be widely publicized? Of course not! There simply are not enough patriotic US citizens who want to serve their country voluntarily. If a person who is not here legally wants to fight for this country, why not? If a person is willing to die for the country they live in who are we to say they are not as patriotic as most & more patriotic than some?
In our country's history low risk criminals have also been given the opportunity to serve in the military versus serving time in prison. I beleive it was right before the draft started.

Yes, if they are going to live here then they should serve in our military as well. This would be a tough one to put together but I do like the idea. I feel people living here in the US should contribute to society in various ways rather than just keep taking and taking. No wonder the government is broke and we have a debt. so high that we can't pay it off. It's time to impose laws in which we can enlist the aid of illegals to serve in our military or perform civic duties as a way to justify them staying here in our country.

I believe that would be a great path to citizenship. If you want to move to our country then contribute a little bit up front.
After you serve at least 4 years in the military and receive either an honorable discharge or reenlist then you are an American citizen. No further questions asked, no more paperwork, no tests, no more anything. YOU ARE PLACED AT THE FRONT OF THE IMMIGRATION LINE!!!!!
The way we would get people in here that were not afraid to contribute and we would get a group of real Americans.
I met a lot of immigrants when I was in the military. They were always the most loyal Americans, we need more of them.

For the ignorant;
You have to be a citizen of the country
BEFORE you get the privilege of offering to serve in the Military.
If they are Illegal then they are criminals WHO cannot swear an oath of allegiance to the U.S.A.
The use of criminals to is a dumb idea a criminal is an anti-social creature with no allegiance to any country but to himself and an easy life from the sweat of other peoples work.
I for one would not trust a con in my section or unit.
The Military is for Patriots, don't ask others to do what you are to scared to do!

Actually you have to have legal US status (resident/green card) to join the service and then later become a citizen.

Ya, they should joint the military and be put on the front lines. I also agree with prisoners - both women and men, they too should be on the front lines.
