They are only cocky at airshows when women are around. As a crewchief I ran into only a couple of arrogant jocks. Got in a fight at a bar in Edmonton Canada back in '92 with an F-15 pilot. Just a little left over tension from the gulf being released but no big deal. We all got hammered together later on. All in all they are good guys. The guys who fly the heavys are the greatest though. Down to earth with nuthin to prove. We all treated each other with respect whether it was enlisted talking to officer or vise versa.

They are VERY confident, occasionally crossing the line into *********. That's just one of the traits you gotta have. C'mon, you really want to trust a multi-million dollar weapon to a guy who has some self doubt issues?
Most fighter pilots I've known, Air Force and Navy, have a really off the wall sense of humor.

Not the real ones, flying a fighter aircraft is a very serious business! There's an old saying that is still true today. "There are bold fighter pilots, and there are old fighter pilots, but there are no bold old fighter pilots!" And it's true! Have a great day.
