For Christians the choice should be clear. Jesus asked the question, who is my mother? and who are my brothers? Whoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister and mother. Matthew 12:46-50.
Cultural relativism and secular humanisn conflicts with the absolutes of the Bible. Society is more interested in creating their own reality.
Jesus taught that mankind is to seek the kingdom of God and all his righteousness and all these other things will be added. Any choice that subordinates God elevates the choice to "a" god. Matthew 6:33

Ha, it doesn't work that way.
Most interpretations of God involve his involvement with people and especially your family. God is everywhere and so if you help your family your are being true to God. God is in the trees that you don't cut down, the plastics that you recycle, the homeless smelly old man who you give some food.
If you are in an organisation that is trying to make you choose, then chances are they are a religous cult and the choose is between them and your family and not God.
Guru (his real name) who founded the Sufi religion (based on Islam, which is based on Christianity, which is based on Judaism) once went on a journey to Mecca. On his way there his fellow travellers criticised him because he was lying with his feet pointed to Mecca. He ask, "Why is this a problem". They said "It is an insult to God". He then said"Well I don't want to insult God, tell me where he isn't so I can point my feet in that direction"

Family... to an extent.
We are not all blessed with perfect families but we are hopefully blessed with a perfect God.
Our families need our support more than God does. He can take what he wants and leave me the rest... I'll make do.

The way I understand God means I need to love and look after my family as much as possible, and this way I am also showing love and respect to God, God would not have given me my Family if he/she/it did not want me to look after them as well as I can, hence the 5th Commandment
"Honor your father and your mother"

God would not expect us to desert our family and our obligations to them. If you are saying to put God first before family, then yes, because whatever we do for Him will benefit our families too

That's highly circumstantial. Let's say I knew for a fact God existed (which will never happen.)--and some circumstance pitted God against them. The circumstance will paint one or the other closer to my ideals, and my ideals come first--always. So it really depends on which paradigm is more natural for me to defend.
