9 countries - United States, United Kingdom, France, Russia, Italy, India, Spain, Brazil, and Thailand.

In addition the People's Republic of China's People's Liberation Army Navy possesses a former Soviet aircraft carrier.

Japan too.

Although aircraft carriers had been around for a while, it wasn't until World War II, that they were used extensively. Aircraft carriers would eventually replace battleships, with the United States and Japan being two of the first countries to build entire fleets of carriers.

France, Brazil ,Indian and Russia has active one. UK has helicopter carrier not aircraft. France carrier is probably the most advance outside U.S. No china do not have a carrier at all, they were planning but never build on due to cost. U.S. carrier spending and manning is more than rest of countries combine currently.

Beside USA...

UK/Great Britain 3: Royal Navy has 3 of class Invincible STOVL carrier: HMS Invincible(R05), HMS Illustrious(R06), HMS Ark Royal(R07)

France 1: Marine National has one, Charles de Gaulle(not 2 because they sold Foch to Brazil).
Charles de Gaulle is the unique Nuclear powered carrier in the world outside US Navy and the only (quite)comparable to Nimitz class(only 36000 ton vs more than 88000 ton, 261m vs 331m of length).

Russia 1:has Admiral Kutnezov, traditional carrier but without catapult(only skyjump).

Italy 1->2: Marina Militare has Garibaldi(C551) STOVL carrier(formely aircraft-carrying cruiser) and Cavour is probably entering service in a short period(during 2008).

Spain 1->2: Armada Espanola has STOVL carrier R11 Principe de Asturias, and in the future also Juan Carlos I is entering service

Thailand 1: has Chakri Nareubet(911).(project based upon Principe de Asturias and built in Spain)

Canada 0: had some carriers during WW2 and untill '60s...Nabob and Puncher escort carriers(ex-USS Edisto and ex-USS Willapa), HMCS(ex-HMS) Warrior, HMCSMagnificent(ex-HMS Majestic) and HCMS Bonaventure(ex-HMS Powerful)

Brazil 1: time ago had A11 Minas Gerais(ex-HMAS Vengeance, ex-HMS Vengeance), replaced in the year 2000 by A12 Sao Paulo (ex-Foch ,Clemenceau class).

Australia 0: had HMAS Sydney(ex-HMS Terrible), HMAS Vengeance(ex-HMS Vengeance) and HMAS Majestic(ex-HMS Majestic) from '50s to '80s, but none at the moment.

Argentina 0: had V1 Indipendencia(ex-HMCS Warrior) and then V2 Veinticinco De Mayo(ex-HMS Venerable) from '50s to '80s.

India 1(->2?): has INS Viraat (ex-HMS Hermes) and seems to have one in building or a ex-sovier in rebuilding.

China ->1?: nothing sure...they bought ex-soviet/ukrainian Varyag but probably they never completed that like a carrier, and the same for ex-australian Melbourne. They built Shichang, a scaled-down Royal Navy Argus, used as multirole but probably not as a carrier. But they are probably building a new carrier of 48000 ton since 1999

-> = "in the future"
? = "maybe"
I hope this helped :-D
