Unless the university specifies that your recommendation must come from a current teacher or faculty member, there should be no problems. If you have questions, call the university admissions office. They'll answer any questions or concerns you have about the application process. You may need to have him fill out one as well as another current teacher. However, he's retired, not fired, and once a teacher always a teacher. Best of luck.

Teachers and students often get together and most teachers are happy to continue to help students years after they have left the fold.

You can go and ask at the school. It is not likely to be an unusual request. Privacy laws may prevent them from giving out his contact details, but you could leave a message for him or ask them to pass a message on. Then he can contact you.

Obviously all your teachers are past teachers and not current teachers. The fact that he has retired doesn't really matter. In fact, with college entrance applications, firstly most of it is your mark, then if you are near the cut off then your application letter and recommendation letters can push you over the edge.

Hi Lexy, I don't see why not he was a teacher and just because he has retired doesn't mean he can't fill it out. But
I think you will run into some problems with getting his phone# or address. See if the school will call him for you and see if you can talk to him and let him know what you need. Can't hurt to try. He must of been a very good teacher for you. Good Luck and I really hope you find him.

you can ask someone at the school to contact him at his las known address or number and let them give him your contact info to reach you and if he is interested in reaching you he will but giving you his info would be a violation of school policies and privacy
