My girlfriend has a Dodge passenger van that just had a clogged converter. The v8 felt like it was running on 5 cylinders. It had no power at all and was getting progressively worse. There was still exhaust flowing out the tailpipe with condensation, so it was hard to diagnose. The converter was getting very hot, but is was not at the point to where it was glowing. I put in a new converter and it runs better than ever.

The glow will sometimes be a dull glow if run super hard but normally if you see a real glow, a check engine light, and lack of power after engine getting hot.. recommend an exhaust specialist to check to see if the Cat is plugged and a engine performance specialist to look for a miss or an over fueling due to such things as bad fuel injectors or the engine misfiring...
But usually occasional drops of clear water after getting warm are normal.... anything more than that can be a sign of serious troubles (as blown head gaskets can cause the same symptoms above)
Best to have it checked by a pro

a glowing converter is NEVER normal, i dont care what make of car it is they never should glow, the reason its glowing is because unburnt fuel is getting in the converter, many reasons why, misfire how does it run, a leaky injector can cause this, is the check engine lite on? find out why if it is, too many reasons this happens and you need to find out why before you burn it too the ground. water from the tailpipe is a normal byproduct of the converter converting gases into harmless water, this is normal and not a problem

Cats will glow slightly at night, especially if your running something like a 3.0 V6 etc... As for water running out the rear, i would say the cat is working as the cat breaks down the harmfull gasses and water vapour is sometimes present

Is it a 3.0 liter V6? I had a 2000 with the 3.0 and had to replace the cat. It is normal though for them to glow, especially at night. Don't replace it just because it is glowing. The cat works by getting hot. Condensation in the exhaust is normal too, especially when it starts to get cooler.

A rich mixture, too much fuel, causing the converter to overheat and turn red.

If you have water out of tail pipe you might have blown head gasket. If you do and do not fix, save for a new engine.
