I've heard lots of people say how god means one thing to them, but can mean something totally different to someone else. How can god be so many different things for so many different people? How is everyone supposed to worship him if there's no uniform way in which to describe him?

Thats the wonderful thing about God. He is whatever we want him to be. It has been said that God is all things. God does not care how we worship him, He does not think one way is better than another, He does not think that one religion has all the answers. If God wanted us not to question and learn then he would have provided the answers. So embrace whatever you believe. Respect what others believe even if it goes against what your beliefs are. You can learn from every situation.

Let me put it to you like this: Have you ever been out on a date with one guy who likes one thing about you, but some other dude prefers some other aspect? We all have our preferences and there are certain things in the bible that some people can relate to more than others. I know there's no way to put a uniform on God, but that's the point. You're not supposed to see God the way others see him, just see Him as your creator and savior. Look at Him for his deeds in the Bible and not what other people see Him as. Do looks matter anyways?

When people talk about God this way, it is just a manner of speaking. They aren't really describing God; they are just describing how they feel about what they believe in. It's more of an emotional stream of consciousness than a logical statement. If God transcends experience and we can't see or hear him/her/it, how can he/she/it mean anything to us? Talking about what God means seems to make sense to people within the religious context of church, but it somewhat defies logic outside of that context. That's why you either have to roll your eyes and take it with a grain of salt, or strictly leave it within it's intended context and never subject it to critical analysis.

It's because we're all created unique and different in mind as well as body. For that same reason, our spiritual concepts vary -- causing as our descriptions of God to vary.

It's not a bad thing, just part of the human dilemma. The ideal is more to search God out in your life and actions than to perfectly describe Him.

It is the same way if I were to describe love to you. My version of it from my experience is different from yours. The same is true with people who have a different doctrine or teaching in the way they are taught to believe in God is different too. That is the one beautiful thing about ones personal relationship with God is that is about our life. Just as your own experience about love is only yours to have also.

I hope this explanation helps.

god explain him self to his worshipers

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).

people created their own gods, religions ...but no one really seems to have any idea ,.

if their so called god is so true..why he/she is limited by language, region, books etc ? why is he not acceptable universally ? why do they need to advertize/market about their gods, is he/she a commodityproduct ..lol ?

primitive people were mainly illiterates, simpletons & farmers ....& were really amused to see any magical/scientific tricks ,performed by some men & termed them as true god/messenger..lol..to simplify things up ( which were beyond their understanding)
