You can have a topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) put on your gums so that you can't feel the injection.

Depending on where you live, there might be a dentist who offers "the wand", a computer-controlled dental injection device which looks nothing like a traditional syringe and is both non-scary and painless.

Let your dentist know how scared you are of shots. There are various techniques your dentist can use to make them comfortable. If you are not happy with your current dentist's ability to give painless injections, ask other people for recommendations for dentist who is able to do so.

have them give you the laughing gas first then you won't care about the rest..
