This year for the first time the fruit on my prickly pears is large enough to fool with at all-but while they are 1 1/2-3 inches long. most of them have no glochids. Are they safe to try eating?

The web didn't tell me much-mostly recipes. They are bright red and soft-I will try them and let you know!

Have the prickly pears changed to a nice red color? Are they ripe to the touch? If the answer to these questions is yes, then, I can only say lucky you. They are quite delicious.
