It sounds like Raynauds. I have it too. My hands and feet turn purple-ish or bluish when I get cold. The way I had it explained was that when you get cold your body "shuts down" that part of your body (palms in your case) to preserve heat in the other parts. You can get it if you ever exposed that part of your body to extreme cold, or some people just have it. It's also more common in women than men and you should take it seriously. It's not life threatening, but it can get worse and worse eventually and turn to gangrene if your body shuts it down for too long. Make sure you wear gloves this winter.

I agree with Johnny. It happens in mormal people when they are exposed to cold climates.
It's called "cyanosis". The bluish discolouration skin & mucous membranes. When it's seen in fingers & toes,it is known as "Peripheral cyanosis".
It could be associated with an underlying heart or lung problem too. Then usually it appears with "central cyanosis", which appears on your tongue & even on facial skin.
Sometimes, it could be marked when you're dehydrated, since the red blood cell count is relatively high for the plasma volume(IIry polycythaemia-relative).
You said your palms turn blue as well, yeah? Hmmm...a little tricky...Do you ever feel a difficulty in breathing during strenuous activities, climbing high altitudes, etc?
Do you have any history of heart ar lung disease?
Raynaud's is also a possibility, but it's difficult to diagnose over Yahoo answers:)
I feel this is just the normal reaction. But if you're worried about it, why don't you go & consult your doctor? Simple:)
Take care.

From the answers you have so far, I will agree with both. It could just be normal, it could also be Raynauds.... You've gotta know that Raynauds doesn't only effect your hands and feet, but it has mental effects also. My sister has it, and not only does it effect the circulation in your extremities, it effects it to your brain also. Read up on Raynauds, and see if you have the symptoms, then go to your dr with your concerns....

It's normal.
When your body gets cold it conserves warmth for its more vital parts (the brain, and other organs). The oxygen rich (red) blood stays closer to, and in, the trunk.
Your cold blue hands and are the price you pay for that little survival feature.
