I notice that my bread tends to go stale by the time I reach the last few slices. Any ideas on what I can do or where I can store it to keep my bread fresh longer? I've heard that keeping it in the fridge doesn't really work...

i keep mine in the fridge, and though it doesn't stay soft like when you first buy it, it still tastes good.

I used to try keeping it in the fridge to stave off mold - and that worked, as far as mold goes... but it still got sort of stale-feeling. However, if I toasted the bread, it came out okay.

My only advice would be to plan lunches or dinners around that fact.... perhaps when you get to those last few, have a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch! Or crumble the slices finely into breadcrumbs, and use in meatloaf, meatballs, or chicken breading for that night's dinner.

I usually freeze mine. If there's a sale I would buy up a couple of loaves and freeze them. I only buy wheat bread, so I don't know if this would work for white bread. When it's time for another loaf I just take it out and leave on the counter to thaw at room temperature.

I usually freeze mine and then the day before I want to use it I take out a few slices to defrost. This only works for me because I don't use much bread, about 6 slices a day between me and my husband so mine usually goes mouldy before I get to the end of it.

Put it in a long Tupperware container. http://order.tupperware.com/coe/app/tup_show_item.show_item_detail
I have frozen several loaves(like to keep it on hand) and thaw them out when I need one just lay out for a couple hours. It is fresh but if you don't use the whole thing you still need to keep it in a container.
Or some other type of good air tight container. Those bread sacks aren't much!

1) Remove all of the air out of the bag before resealing.
2) Keep away from moisture and heat
