There are a few reasons on why the black box survives the crash, first the materials it is made out of - if the aircraft was made with the same materials it would be too heavy to fly, second, where the black boxes are placed in the aircraft has a lot to do why the make it through the accident, they don't take the full impact of the crash because they are usually located towards the back of the aircraft.

The plane wouldn't be able to fly then. Also, it is damaged sometimes. The black box was never found on the planes from 9/11. I know at least with the one that crashed in Pennsylvania it wasn't recovered. I don't think the ones from the other three planes could be found either.

Wrong, the flight recorder is sometimes damaged during a plane crash. Don't be an idiot: making a plane indestructible wouldn't save the people inside. They still crash against the inside of it--remember?

"That stuff" is a small box in which no person can sit in. so do not be under impression that the black box is made out of some fancy material which can not be destroyed. Next best thing- you invent a metal which can be used for making the airplanes which will fly with present day engines and will be able to carry passengers as well !!!!!!!!!

Its like telling - Why don't we make the whole bank building of Chubb's Safe walls as it never burn down. ( or even a car )
The recorder is not black , but is in red color.
Since , after a crash , it burnt on the surface till black - hence the word " black box " using a metal detector.
One can't put that kind of metal weight to make a plane as it will not be airborne anymore.

Yes it is. Sometimes they are totally destroyed. Why not look back a few days and see the answers from the last time someone asked this. Even if they did make the rest of the aircraft the way they make the black box it wouldn't save a human, they'd be smeared all over the insides, stone dead.

just because the plane wouldnt get as damaged, doesnt mean the passengers inside wouldnt get injured/killed. in fact the force would be more powerful on the people inside if the plane was made of black box material.

If the aircraft was built to the black box's specification, it would be called a tank!
(Tanks don't fly.)
