Why would he become extinct? If he is our cousins why don't they evolve into a humans in the cages or why don't we just have some more Orangutans, since we came from them. Here is another thought, why don't the scientist who thought of this ingenuis idea, just isolate the Orangutan gene and make strictly Orangutan from us. Even so, why don't the monkeys in the zoo evolve.
I can't see how humans, who are so intelligent, could possibly believe we came from monkeys. That theory was blown out of the water when they couldnot find the missing link, that was suppose to be the go between of human and monkeys or the gene of monkeys in our gene. A scientist even went so far as to try and have sex with monkeys to prove his theory, but instead we go the aid virus introduced into human society. Therefore, thinking like this have totally taken the Creation of God to a level, I don't believe even he expected us to go there.
BELIEVE THIS IF YOU WANT, BUT DON'T SIT AROUND THE ZOO EXPECTING MONKEYS TO EVOLVE, BECAUSE IT AIN'T HAPPENING.

The orangutan is probably going extinct from second-hand smoke no doubt.
Oh btw, if you end a sentence with a ?, it doesn't necessarily make it a question.

Uh...I know what you're trying to do, and you're not helping. The common ancestor of the different primates was not "a monkey of a different species". Creationists try to play this game of using the idea of a "kind" of animal that keeps stretching its own definitions. That's just bad taxonomy.

According to evolution, every specie on earth is our
"cousin"....a specie will either adapt or survived, many animals have been extinct before, about 90-95% of species that ever lived are now extinct.Orangutan now humans later...

Actually the closest primate to us are the Bonobo (pigmy) Chimpanzees.
They are not as nice as the Orangutans are.
