File immediately, once IRS receives your returns it take 6-12 weeks to process, wait 2-3 weeks before you call and ask for the status. You should file right away, If you have not filed by the time you file your 2007 return, and if you have a refund coming it will not be issued until your returns are all filed. The 2007 refund will be held until all returns are fully processed and they see you do not owe them anything, if you do owe for one year your refund will be offset to pay off any amount due.

If you file within the next few weeks it shouldn't be much of a wait to get your money. Since it's too late for you to e-file, your best bet for knowning when the IRS receives your returns is to wait a week or two then call to find out if they have received it.

However if you wait until after January 1st to file your returns you'll have to wait (and wait). Probably until sometime after April 15th. Once current year returns start coming in, the IRS puts all prior years on the back burner.

You have to file to get your refunds. Why would you want to do this? You just gave them free money and you will get no interest. File today before you lose your refunds. If you keep waiting to file you may lose 1 year of a refund. (Time Limit is two years).

It's too late to e-file those but if you opt for direct deposit of the refunds to your bank account you should see your money in less than a month.

It may take a few weeks.

The IRS figures if you waited this long to file, you can wait a little longer for your return.

Have fun.
