Hi Sandy!
I can hardly contain myself, the excitement of getting to answer this particular question is overwhelming!
Here goes.... Remember me telling you about the two trees in the garden? How I shared my newfound understanding of the tree of life being 'symbolic' of an olive tree? O.K. Hold that thought. Ever seen one of those old, two wheel olive presses? I recently heard that the great tribulation is enlikened to 'intense pressure'. The decisions of faith in those days will come through greater external challenges than we have known. My point is, if trials and tribulations in this life are equated with pressure..... Aaand the olive press produces oil...... then doesn't it make sense that the testing of our faith produces the 'annointing oil' of God's Holy Spirit. in our lives /lamps? As we persevere in our trials, continuing to yield to the pressure of the trials that God allows in our lives to refine us, holding on to our faith, and becoming overcomers through them, then we will continue to have oil in our lamps. The unwise vigins, I believe refer to religious people who put their trust in outward practices and appearances. Though they are familiar with the church's current events, yet, they do not 'know' they need to be internally transformed by God's Spirit through tests of their faith in challenging circumstances. Just as the wheel turns, it continues to come back around for another drop of oil. The reason we can not share our oil is because of 'how it is acquired in the first place. My trial+my endurance and faith+ God's grace= my oil. It is non-transferable, though I have given the secret on how to get it, it is up to the individual as to whether or not they are willing to pursue it on their own. It comes at a 'price' not everyone is willing to pay.

You are right that the Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins is an End Time Parable. It a brief overview it describes two classes of Christians, one who makes the Bride Class and goes into the Marriage and one who doesn't. The Parable is about the Last members of the Bride being taken home and the door is shut (no more callings, no more opportunity to enter the race.) I may not be able to explain this in the space allotted. To understand this parable you have to understand there is 2 basic groups of Christians Luke 21:36 Talks about those WORTHY to escape (the great time of trouble). These are the: Little Flock, the Elect, The Bride of Christ, The Wise Virgins, the Elijah class, First Resurrection, Church of the First Born. They are the minority. Revelation 7 tells us about the majority of Christians, the Great Multitude, these do not sit on the throne, but are before it and serve Jesus and the Bride. Revelation 19:9 explains that they miss out the wedding, but come to the reception. They are also pictured elsewhere as: Foolish Virgins, Elisha, scapegoat, Little sister in Song of Solomon. You need to compare some other types in the Scriptures that show these two classes, and show one of the classes missing out on the chief prize. Wise and Foolish Virgins--Foolish ask the wise for more oil (understanding through the Holy Spirit) Gideon (300) vs. 9700 who failed the drinking test (failed to look out for the enemy while drinking in the Word) Elijah and Elisha--Elisha asks for a double portion (Has to recognize when Elijah [Church] is gone to get it. Lord's Goat and Azazel's goat--Scapegoat turned out to the wilderness (turned over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh) Little Sister in Song of Sol.--too lazy to get up and go to the door, but eventually does then has to go out in the street to find him--she gets beat up Jesus' Last day--They take Jesus (The Christ head and body), Disciples run away (picturing that other class) There is a common theme in all of these. All show the death/taking of the Bride class and the remaining of the other at that time. Time period in all: Night (the Dark night in which no man can work) This night corresponds to the Hour of Power of the Beast, the Wise (those ready) go ahead even though they know they will be put to death, but have faith that they will be changed in a twinkling of an eye. The others through fear (and lack of preparation) hold back and lose the ultimate reward. Brides maids in history are not like they are today, they are not the friends of the bride, they are her servants, and that is why they follow after her. Psa 45:14 She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.

When I think of the ten virgins I think of people I know, and have seen their lives. I have watched how they came to the knowledge of the Lord but it goes no farther than that. They are not living a victorious Christian life. They don't seem to be able to let selfish things go and put Him and His Church first. So are they watching for his coming? I don't know but I do feel that life could be more joyful if they would surrender to the will of the Lord. I liken them to the 5 foolish virgins. On the other hand I see others of my brothers and sisters that Love the things of God and seem to be full and overflowing with His Spirit, when you talk to them you can feel the overwhelming feeling of all the fruits of the Spirit. to me thay are like the 5 wise virgins. One of these brothers says all the time that we must be watching and waiting but also willing and working, not to be saved, but to be fulfilled. A Christian can only be truly happy when he or she is working toward that great goal, that is Christ Jesus. If we make Heaven only our goal we will miss the mark with our lives. It would be like marrying a man only for his house, after a while we would get tired of the house if there is no love for the man. That's why I think Christ must be the goal, that will make all things right in our lives. Whether it is the extra oil needed, and I do think that comes from the trials in life that we see Christ bring us through. We are tried for the perfecting of our faith. Oh! isn't there great Joy and hope in the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

\"Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. "
It is a parable for members of Gods church (kingdom of heaven) to be prepared for the second coming.
We never know when it will come so you better be doing all you can to be prepared. Those that brought extra oil were clearly doing everything they can to make sure they didnt miss this occassion. The wise 5 were prepared.
The foolish ones were gathering what they needed because they didnt prepare and procrastinated what should have already been done. So while they were out trying to make up for what they hadnt already been prepared for, they missed the whole thing.
All ten are members of the church (kingdom of heaven) but only half were ready and prepared for the coming of Christ. I think it is also a warning that just belonging to the right religion doesnt mean you are necc prepared. We need to be actively engaging in our spiritual preparedness.
aThen shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten bvirgins, which took their clamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all aslumbered and bslept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the abridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their alamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps aare gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were aready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was bshut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I aknow you not.
13 aWatch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

This is speaking about the return of Christ.
The virgins represent all people (wheat & tares).
Oil represents the gospel (Psalm 23; Revelation 6:6)
The number 5 (5 foolish/5 wise) often indicates judgement contrasted to grace in scripture; for example, David used 5 rocks to slew Goliath (cf. 1 Samuel 17:40-47), or in the case of Elisabeth, grace (cf. Luke 1:24).
The bridegroom is the LORD Jesus Christ.
The shout at midnight in v.6 is the same "shout" we read of in 1 Thessalonians:
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." - 1 Thessalonians 4:16,17.
The door that is shut also represents the LORD Jesus:
John 10:7,9 - Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
Matthew 25:1-13 is a parable, highly allegorical and pointing to the return of Christ.
He can come at anytime so ... watch!

Well as I understand it the ten virgins symbolize Christ Church. The bridegroom is symbolized to be Christ...the lamp oil is the holy spirit or holy ghost...so to be spiritual prepared is important if you want to be let in on the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ ( the marriage)
The five wise virgins were prepared in all things...such as knowing the good news of Christ....learning his word daily and applying it in everyday living...being prudent in temporal matters too...being self-reliant and not dependent upon the world in anyways..so they joyfully waited for the great event of the bridegroom. (Christ second coming)
The other five virgins were foolish...only doing as little as possible to get by spiritually....sometimes going to church...sometimes reading the scriptures....sometimes becoming dependent on worldly ways...and living this way won't make the oil last...it runs out when things get tough...they ask why me and question if God is even real...thus unprepared spiritually and unable to abide the great day of the Lord.

1. the torch was either a lamp with a small oil tank and wick or a stick with a rag soaked in oil on the end of it which would require occasional re-soaking to maintain the flame. it doesn’t matter what we are doing when Christ returns. we may be working, eating, sleeping.. whatever it is, we must be doing it in such a way that we don’t have to “make things right” [get more oil] when he comes.
2. the five virgins who have the extra oil represent the truly born again who are looking with eagerness to the coming of Christ. they have saving faith and have determined that whatever occurs, be it lengthy time or adverse circumstances, when Jesus returns, they will be looking with eagerness. the five virgins without the oil represent false believers who enjoy the benefits of the christian community without true love for Christ. they are more concerned about the party than about longing to see the bridegroom
may we not be found “going away to make the purchase” [v. 10] when Christ returns. take the time now to fill your lamp with oil and take extra along. keep waiting and watching with joy and anticipation.

First of all sleep in this story does not reflect death as much as being asleep spiritually, as in Laodecia, not needing anything,.... Having Oil is having the HOLY SPIRIT, and the foolish virgins were out!!!!! they did not have the HOLY SPIRIT, AND they were caught unprepared to meet the GROOM... Hvaing the SPIRIT OF GOD is critical.. read John ch 3... We cannot understand what is happening in our world if we don't have a relationship with GOD..or have the HOLY SPIRIT in our lives..
This parable is a major one and to understand it requires OIL IN YOUR LAMP..

our lamps are who we are in this life. have we been our
brothers keeper? have we shared the word as well as
basic needs? have we prayed and fasted? have we ask for
repentances of sin? to we use communion? are we
judgemental and unforgiving? do we give back to YESHUA
just us or have we shared the gospel and planted seeds?
do we praise and worship ADONAI? and does the
RUACH HAKODESH know us?
