Well you see, I like tattoos. And I don't plan on getting them because I'm a Christian (Says in Leviticus 19:28). How do i get rid of these desires of having a tattoo? And if I get one, God and my Whole family wouldn't like it. Can someone help me get rid of these thoughts?

I too am a Christian. I have really never had the desire to get a tattoo. I really don't see anything wrong with them. They're just not for me! I guess, just think about it. Would you want something to mess up your skin tone? Permanetly? It hurts to get one, and you know, they have to burn them off. Is it really worth all that pain? Just try to think about all the downsides of having one, it should help. [hopefully!]

Well i think you should think about the reason why you want a tattoo. [will it resemble something religious, family related, something that you want to remember?] And if you think the reason isn't insulting your religion or disobeying anything i think you should go for it. there are reasons for everything...i dont think you should live your life by what your family/friends will think. I think there are plenty of Christian people with tattoos. But do whatever you feel comfortable with.
Another idea is to get a temporary tattoo and see how you feel about it while you have the temp. tattoo
but most of all, take some time to think about what you feel comfortable doing.
hope i helped! Good luck!

When I was your age, i really wanted a belly button ring. Everyone had one, and I wanted one. A couple years later I got one and I realized that it wasn't as great as I thought it was and it was a nuisance. We tend to want things that we can't have really bad. I think that if you got a tattoo now so young you would regret it later when you mature more. I want tattoos now but I won't because I am going into Business and stuff like that isn't professional for interviews. I also hate to think that I have something that I thought was cool as a teenager put permanently on my body when my styles and moods will change and I probably won't like it later on. Put the future in your mind set and your career and family in the future. Wouldn't you look silly with a big tattoo when you are trying to be a soccer dad or a lawyer?

Tattoos are beautiful! Its such a shame that you think God wont like you for getting one, there are plenty of christians with tattoos! Seeing as you arent old enough to get one for a while perhaps you can change your mind with some help from your parents or the minister from your church, i am personally not religious myself but can understand your concerns.. maybe you should tell your parents of your wish to have a tattoo and see how they react, you could get a religious one like a picture of jesus or a cross or something?

Good Luck!

wow, im also christian but i dont think tattoos are a sin, but that passage from leviticus refers to the cult practice of making cuts in your face and arms to morn the dead to appease false gods, so that passage refers to the prohibiting of the pagan religious ritual at that time of making cuts in your skin to please false gods (the thought of putting marks in their body was based on the belief that if they did then they and also the person that has passed away will receive favour in the afterlife)... so as long as you dont get a tattoo to honor a pagan god or try to get a pagan god's favouritism then the leviticus passage does not really apply to just getting a tattoo.
haha oo ya btw if you want a christian solution to ending those desires you can do what saint benedict did and get naked and throw yourself in a thorn bush.

so does this mean that you follow all of the rules of the bible to the strictest standards?
you only wear 100% pure fabrics that are not blended? (that means no cotton polyester blends, it's a sin)

are you planning on never shaving your face?

do you stone all adulterers?

do you rest on the sabbath day? do NO WORK at all?

have you never coveted your neighbor?

i'm a christian and i have tattoos and i'm not going to hell. if you want a tattoo then you should get one. it is your choice and nobody else's. so when you are old enough to get tattooed then you should do so if you still feel the desire to do so.

Wait til you are older and see how you feel then and remember God forgives murderes and thieves. He surely won't hold a tatoo against you.If it is a big deal to your family and church then you have a big decision to make later in life.Good luck on whatever you decide.Be true yourself. If what you decide effects just you then it is only you that should make the final decision..

The Bible never says you can't have tattoos. If you read it carefully, you will find that many biblical figures have tattoos. The only thing it bans is getting tattoos for the dead, or "I AM THE LORD" tattooed on yourself. Otherwise, you can get tattoos.

I just wanted to add on to what that one person said.. it doesn't hurt that bad i have one. if you will regret it because oyu feel like you will be looked down on, etc then don't. tattoos are hella sick but also something that leaves no room for regret. just try to think of how you would feel if you got one. you can draw on yourself with sharpie and have a fake one! that's always fun =)

how arrogant of you to even think that you know what God would like or dislike! And please don"t quote the bible;it was written by man,God had nothing to do with that peice of literature. Now as far as a tattoo goes;your 15,you can't have one till your 18.So just stop it.
