I love the pampers diapers, we have had the best of luck with them on my 3 yr old thats diapered fulltime and my 5 yr old is in the pampers size 7 diaper at night, we have had no leaks at all. So I would say yes he is ready for the size 6 diaper and make sure he is pointed in the right direction when you diaper him,,,lol.....
Secondly, potty train when you feel like your son is ready. My first two that I potty trained were 4 yrs old, I didnt rush the training and I would suggest you dont either, they will get it on their own, I think too many people rush the training because everyone thinks a child should be diaper free by age 2 and its a sin to have a child older than that in diapers. Switch to a larger size diaper, he will be fine.

The potty training answer...bad idea. You never start potty training unless they show signs, one sign being NOT peeing ALL night.
Size six maybe the answer, but also as little ones get older, bigger and so on, so do the amounts they drink and the bladder size. He may actually be holding more in his bladder at night, or he may be drinking more throughout the day.
They make different brands of diapers as well and unfortunately some brands do not have the proper fit for the bigger kids. As they get into the size 5's and 6's I found that it was alot harder to find a diaper that would wrap around my boy's hips and or legs, this may be the situation with your child. He may just have a different body type then the diaper is used to and he has changed over the last two weeks.
All of these things seem to be possible problems and the only thing you can do is buy small packs of different sizes and brands, as you run out of each package use the diapers that seem to work best. I actually buy a separate brand for my son to wear at night, I did the same thing for my other boy.
Oh by the way, they make these water proof kind of pads that you can slide under your son, that way you will not have to change the bedding everyday until you get the leaks figured out.

If you are sure hes "pointed" the right way when his diaper is put on, and is still wetting through it, its likely he is actually outgrowing them. Other than moving onto a size 6, you might want to consider using a waterproof diaper cover, or perhaps try putting a cloth in his diaper to help absorb it. Also, try different brands of diapers, as some re more durable. If you are only noticing hes wetting thru them at night, also you could just stick to a size 5 for daytime and put the 6's on him at night. When you consider the price increase per diaper from a size 5 to 6, it makes a difference. You may also want to start out potty training. If you do, dont use pull-ups ....use the Gerbers (or similar) training underwear that are extra thick. You will save a bundle, and they work better than pull-ups because they really can tell when they are wet. In pull-ups they just feel like they are in a diaper, so they dont learn.

It might be the brand of diapers that you are using. I usually go with Huggies but one week was short on money and had to buy the generics. Didn't work the same at all. If you haven't changed the brand then maybe you should consider it as your son is bigger now, which means a bigger bladder and more pee. Maybe what worked in the past isn't now that he is a little bigger. Plus size 6 is sometimes hard to find. Pull-ups don't always work either since they are potty training pants, therefore meant to hold less.

You might try Overnites by Huggies. We had that same problem when our little one was about 18months. (He was a size 4 tho). But the Overnites work great. They look like regular diapers 'cept they can hold like 3 times as much as a reagular "daytime diaper".
oh, and as far as using a plastic diaper over his regular diaper suggested above, getting a wet plastic diaper off then getting off a FULL diaper he had on all night sucks! You haev to give them a bath every morning or they smell like pee all day. We tried that before doing Huggies Overnites. Also if you have an average to larger than average kid, you may need to go up a size but if not try Overnites.
And also, we tried the pee pads like the nurse suggested above...it does work HOWEVER, you still have a wet baby in wet clothing and you still have a wet sheet assuming you put the pee pad under the sheet, because putting a kid directly on top of a pee pad just doesnt cut it. They just wiggle too much at night.

The other thing you may want to try is I know that Huggies has an overnite size 5 diaper that is more absorbant than their normal line, and that way they are not to big either. We tried this with ours and it solved the problem until he got a bit bigger and fit into the size 6 pampers.
If this doesnt help then I do believe that you will have to go for the larger size to get more absorbancy.

The nurses double the diapers to prevent leaking.
Using a washable or disposable bed pad.
Or the larger diaper. If it is ill fitting in other ways or leaks during the day.
I think I'm not a nurse just a mother of 4 the children upon waking have the most amount of urine from overnight build up.

I had the same problem with my son, he kept leaking into his clothes (and my bed!) and I couldn't figure out why. I changed sizes and it all stopped! So i'd say yeah try a bigger size and see if that helps.
And I don't know if you are, but I made the mistake of relying on the pull-ups too often, they don't seem to hold it all in over night, so i'd say if you do use those, it'd be worth a try using the normal kind. Good luck! : )
And to all the people saying potty train him, how do you teach a two year old to get up out if his sleep and go to the toilet!!

I have a 3 year old and a 2 year old and the only diaper I know that won't leak is Huggies brand. I've tried all kinds of diapers and this is the only one that works for me. Hope this helps! Good Luck
