show some respect...thank you.

Speak to me about what it means to 'break someones spirit'. Is this possible? What does it look like?
Is this like chaining a dog for so long that he becomes vicious? Or is it like beating a dog into submission?
Does this have anything to do with what's loosely referred to as spiritual warfare... or psychological warfare? Is breaking someones spirit...the goal of this type of relationship? For what?
Are people using information as weapons and the psyche as a battleground? What, which, where, when, why, how, who?
Are there psychological/spiritual equivalents to computer viruses? Highjacking? Hacking?
Spam? Spyware? Trojan?
Is causing someones 'system' to crash...the same as breaking their spirit? Is a 'broken spirit' the same thing as a state of insanity?

Once a spirit has been broken, be it human or otherwise...can it be made whole again?
Tell me...

Your spirit is that part of a person's being thought of as the center of life, the will, thinking, feeling; that part of man that survives death. But that spirit is Human and yes it can be broken down in many ways. There is a Spirit with in you that no one can break. It doesn't show it's self until death comes to you as a human made of atoms / matter. This Spirit is the third in the Trinity. This is the Holy Spirit that has always been with you from birth. When you rise up to the Heavens , you are that Spirit which will complete this doctrine. Three divine Persons ( Father ,Son and Holy Spirit ) united in one Supreme Divine Being.

"Break someones spirit" is a misnomer.

If you do not believe in "spirits" there is nothing but imagination to break. If you believe in "spirits" then you know these are not physical and cannot be broken.

The term is usually applied to any event, conscious or not, which changes a persons will or greatly lessens their options for choice.

More like chaining a mind or beating a mind repetitively with dogma until it can no longer think unfettered. Total submission.

Spiritual or psychological warfare can twist a spirit or a mind without breaking it. The human psyche is the battleground. The fight is between groups and individuals. The groups can be huge (nations, religions, corporations, banking institutions) or small (social groups, cults, neighborhoods, the guys at the pub). The indivuals are always on their own.

Mental viruses spread as fast as computer viruses. Elections have been hijacked. Subliminal hacking is old technology. Advertisements are spam. Yahoo! even promotes spyware. But so do grocery stores, pharmacies and retail chains who keep track of purchases. Trojan horses? Ever talk with a vet?

Most humans alive have twisted spirits, which is a form in insanity. It separates them from reality.

Can they be made whole again? Only if they are aware that they are broken (and most are not).

It can happen, and in different ways methinks
chaining a dog until it becomes vicious, beating one into submission, and others are all examples of physically breaking a spirit. (weird, huh?) Both seem to 'break' a spirit by detaching care from awareness.

Methinks there is a difference between that and psychological warfare though. Psychological warfare usually involves the breaking of a will, not a person -- though it sometimes has that effect.

Viruses are one of those things that find ways to exist in many many different forms. There are physical ones that make you sick, computer ones that run rampant on the internet, and mental/psychological ones that can in a sense 'infect' the spirit as well. These viruses typically make their victims into rotten people :(

lol, Crashed systems can be re-booted...usually

Insanity? Nah, methinks its more like apathy, or even worse, hatred. We're all crazy in some ways ;)

Broken spirits are typically the products of way too much pain. Take away the pain, and it should heal -- though often times wounds remain sore for a loooong time.

Yes it is possible. What does it look like? I think it's both of your examples. I think a broken spirit isn't something that happens all at once. It's more like a slow deteriation. As the person fights to keep it from being broken they become more vicious to protect themselves. But eventually, they just brake. A person who's spirit is broken just gives in on everything. They have no will to fight and no will to do anything. Sometimes they don't even have the will to survive.

I do think Psychological/spiritual "warfare" goes hand in hand. But anyone who would willingly cause a state like this in someone else is not a person I wish to know.

It may be a form of insanity. But insanity implies some kind of passion or extream emotion. Someone with a broken spirit doesn't have that.

And Yes, a broken spirit can be made whole again, but the person will never be the same as they were before they were broken. Sometimes, they're so different they barely recognize the personalities in their own old journals. But they also become twice as strong, and it's that much harder to break them again.

What wonderful answers to a thought provoking question.

You used the example of a beaten dog and this prompted my answer.

Two years ago a friend of mine rescued a pit bulldog from a horrible situation. It had been so bad for the dog that the vet said to put him down. Apparently, the dog had a nervous breakdown and would sit for hours in her own urine.

Because she was only a year old and had those big brown eyes, my friend decided to work with her for awhile.

Fortunately, there was no violent behavior, biting, growling, etc. all of this had been beaten out of her. She just sat and stared.

Much time passed and a lot of patience and tender loving care was poured forth. For a long time it fell into emptiness...there was no light in the eyes, certainly no wagging tail.

There were two other dogs in the family and they would romp and play often circling this 'statue-like' pup in their enthusiasm.

One day, my friend noticed that 'Kitty' (her new name) was turning her head in response. Hallelujah!! She was coming back. Her spirit was still alive!

Now, she is very much alive, frisky and even wags her tail...non-stop. Her nature is quite gentle and loving.

I don't know if this is a great example, but it sure touched my heart. Honestly, I held out little hope for this dog. I am so glad my friend saw something I didn't see. The spirit is quite strong where love is present.

My friend, you tapped the gold vein already. You need go no further and have reached the end of that prescriptive journey. For all this is that. ‘All as you outlined, this exactly. So abide the imagery of the inner bodies well.

Can it be made whole again? -- know this, yes...

'But tactics, sire, tactics. Allow the rages, allow the mild.

’Is all in time -- a few seconds or seasons; maybe after several loops around the awagawan.

Yet truly today it occurs with comparative lightning speed, of the first call and its response, so acute have souls become in their advances.

Violations come so deep, so quick. So meticulously set now broad is the recoil, yet with plenty the places for one to hold to while on the ascent to reach center again. Witness the markers. Anchors abound; these afforded by the knowledge of those who came here, fell, and who rappelled these grave depths before your time; the likewise bearings they provided to which you may reach out and touch those walls of a void made by your fateful descent.

And therewith these nooks and shelves can you rest for the while; but then off and onward you go again, eyes open, haring upward, ever onward of the ascent that is the healing till the void is filled.

Things take time; time takes impassive skill.

It can be mended.

The broken spirit can't remember their dreams, indeed there is no light inside the mind, The mind has become so afraid to try and see by itself that it has become entirely dark.

All the movies, images and thoughts that frighten a child out of their dreams are how the ignorant start the war you speak of.

So if one is ignorant what sort of war is it? Is it simply a war about ignorance or lack of awareness? I believe it is exactly that! In fact I know it! Knowing it makes all the difference because when one knows it they are no longer ignorant and all the world is exposed to them, They see how all that has been said and done has been done for an precise reason for if it had not been done we all would not be here right now as we read this. We are the result of a most supreme work and all there is to do is realise it. But I know you know this already :-) I have been working tirelessly in universal mind to understand all. Increasing my awareness so I only see and hear to understand. That when I am experiencing the world in action I complete the experience of it. When the experience becomes something I don’t understand I ask a question of it, gain the understanding and then continue the experience of my motion. In my rest I have been expanding my thoughts to surround our entire space. And it is you especially who have helped and guided me into a place where the wisdom is rich and sometimes even drips from their tongs like honey. They are beautiful people who are around me here with wonderful answers that have opened the mind space and brought back in the light. I can never repay you but I can make you proud of me and this I will do because I have gotten and still get the help I need from you in here and with the over ear! I realise I write these words here late in your question but I believe many will eventually find them and when they do they will know the question just like we do. What do you think about calling it "The Retruthment"? :-) What is the simplest way to express that, which cannot be expresses other than to say? “It is know who is good that wakes the mind up and makes life into magic and magic into life. So the two become one and we learn to know the life we feel inside and out”.

I have many wonderful ideas that every single one of them will love but you know that. I just need to leave this country I am in because my woman needs her family. So I will not be in Australia much longer. We are to have a child in December :-). In her country I can seek more time in universal mind and bring my inventions about :-) Oh I feel I am still sharpening my tong because I still sometimes find myself in both extremes of emotions. However it is ready for many battles we see, can you test me? :-) It feels like this truth will set many free.

"Does this have anything to do with what's loosely referred to as spiritual warfare... or psychological warfare? Is breaking someones spirit...the goal of this type of relationship? For what?"

yes, it has a lot to do with this.
a continual, insidious wearing away of self esteem, self belief, self worth.
hijacking one's essence. often transforming that person, isolating them.

but a broken or twisted spirit CAN be healed.
by friends, family, but importantly, by ones'Elf also! but what that turning point is, when it occurs, is a mystery.
but it does happen. if they are lucky they will retain most of their original essence. sometimes not, which is when insanity occurs. if they survive the trauma of this wearing away, they can learn valuable lessons, but how painful they are sometimes. to not be scarred is miraculous, so some scarring will happen.
to be made whole again? yes it is possible. through intense Love.

When I first came to Yahoo R&S I was hoping for questions like this. Thank you, they are very rare.

This issue is explained nicely in Romans 7,8 but I will try my best to explain. It is very possible to be spiritually dead and physically alive. Our minds and our wills can destroy the spirit alltogether. It looks a little like this: When we are broken spiritually we are usually in spiritual pain and very angry. Many people pull back into their own selfishness to hide from the pain of spiritual reality. These people will usually be the loudest advocates against the existance of GOD and so on. The ironic part of this behavior is that while they are spouting hate disguised as wisdom and intellegence they are actually displaying a loss of all reality. For example: All I live for is me, myself and I. All I do is look out for #1. Ok now lets step outside of our own skin into reality and look around. How many people woke up this morning and was wondering how I am doing? Precious few! And If the real world does not revolve around me then I am living in dream land and calling it reality. Usually under the label of (Science)(Humanism) which has no place in a community that is made up of more then one person. I am trying to fill a black hole in my being that was designed for my spirit to live in.
I know this was out there but you are asking me to show you something that has no form. Like asking me to show you air. I can only describe the wind and what happens when you have no more air.

Hope that helped. I sure enjoyed trying to answer you†

Wow...what a great question as well as some wonderful answers!
To break someones spirit is to take away their hope, their will, their individuality. Everything that makes a person aware of their uniqueness and their self worth. Including but not limited to trust, love, hopes, dreams, will to live..ability to thrive.
It is like crushing a childs imagination and self esteem making them feel like "less than"....something that affects them for life.....inferiority and lack of truth &/or trust.

Can a spirit be healed and made whole again? Yes...there is a good possibility, however the scars remain as reminders and are like a brick wall built to protect themselves from the outside world....it takes alot of love and healing to break down that wall, brick by brick....

I hope you find what it is you seek......

Blessings
