All sins are equal in God's eyes. We just put our own weight on them. All are mistakes, and all take the same sincere repentance.
Any scripture on this?

Charles, I dont see from that scripture how murder is regarded as DIFFERENT from other sins. No murder has eternal life abiding in him (he turned from God when he decided to kill), but neither does a liar. People turn from God when they decide to lie - they dont think God will see them through telling the truth. It also seems like you added that second part abt the victim waiting in Heaven. Feel free to add to your post! ♥

CADisney - God gives us choice. We can steal that loaf of bread, or we can pray and trust that He will give us bread to feed that child (or a new family who will feed him!). Or we could steal that bread, and repent about it. Killing the child does not really benefit anyone, and it would be in cold blood. Its not likely that someone would repent after that, because they MEANT to do wrong. But that's where God is so merciful. He even accepts the repentance of that baby killer. If that person sincerely repents to God (not to a person for show), he's forgiven. He'll still go to jail, but his soul is not in jeopardy.

Yes! Sin is sin in the eyes of the Lord. The sins we commit are an outward manifestation of an inner condition which we all inherited from Adam. It's this inner condition which, if left unaddressed, sends people to hell. Jesus went to great lengths to explain to Nicodemus that regardless of the fact that he (Nicodemus) lived a good life, his works can't save him as we must be born again. John 3:18 tells us that the whole world is automatically condemned until such time as people believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. It's the inner condition which condemns people and their works can't address this condition! Jesus made the truth extraordinarily clear when he said that all manner of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven among men except blasphemy of the Holy Ghost. This was the unpardonable sin and was committed when the religious leaders of His day accused Jesus of working miracles with the power of Satan. I don't believe that it can be committed in this day and age as the circumstances simply don't exist any more. Thankfully Jesus died for all our sins so we know we are forgiven and on our way to heaven!

The scripture does not say some kind of sin, but merely sin.
Isa 59:1 Listen! The LORD is not too weak to save you, and he is not becoming deaf. He can hear you when you call. 2 But there is a problem—your sins have cut you off from God. Because of your sin, he has turned away and will not listen anymore. 3 Your hands are the hands of murderers, and your fingers are filthy with sin. Your mouth is full of lies, and your lips are tainted with corruption.

Greetings Nahira... The scriptures seem to indicate that there are levels of punishment. Here are some examples:
Matthew 12:31
Luke 12:47-48
2Peter Ch 2 - note verse 17

Would a fair God think that stealing a loaf of bread to save a starving child is equal to murdering a starving child to collect on an insurance policy they just took out on him?

Hi Nahira,
No, not every sin is equal. You asked for a scripture. Here is one that quotes Jesus
Matthew 12:31-32
“On this account I say to you, every sort of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the spirit will not be forgiven. For example, whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the holy spirit, it will not be forgiven him, no, not in this system of things nor in that to come."
Hope this makes things a bit clearer ...
Have a wonderful day ...

Hello Nahira,
Yes you are right, all sins are equal in God's sight. Actually there are a couple of verses. One is Romans 3:23 which says, " For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God."
Another one is "For all our righteousness is as filthy rags."
The other verse in Romans states that the wages of sins is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Yes and no. In the sense that any sin carries the sentece of eternal damnation, yes.
but Jesus said;
Jhn 19:11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power [at all] against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.
So, there must be some sense in which God sees some sin as greater, but I wouldn't take that to mean that some sins are not serious.

James 2:10 - For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
According to this Scripture, no matter which commandment I break, I am guilty of breaking them ALL if I even break one - that includes "white lies". A sinner is a sinner, regardless of the sin committed. The Bible tells us that ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). However, God provided the way for us to be reconciled to Him - His Son, Jesus Christ.
**Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
**Ephesians 2:8-9
For by GRACE are ye saved through FAITH, and that NOT of yourselves: it is the gift of God. NOT by works, lest any man should boast.
**John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The wages of sin is death. Nothing could be more clear. There are no exceptions. The Bible says that the transgression of the least of the law is a transgression of the whole of law. Read Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Then read Romans.

I don't believe in either sin, god, or the Bible, but I'm certain that the idea that all sins are equal is not Biblical.
