Yes, butter is made from cream. It is really easy to make:

Take a pint of heavy cream and put it in your Kitchen Aid mixer with the whip attachment. Beat it way past the point of whip cream (about 20 min). It will began to separate. Put the butter into a clean, lint free towel and run cold water over it.
Squeesze the towel until the water is clear. Open it up and you have butter!!!
