Is there a difference between pre-magnum and magnum engine camshafts? I will be putting a 5.9 magnum in in my Dakota soon and I want to put an RV cam in it. I am looking to build torque not so much horsepower. Just wonderin if I am goin to have to look for a specific camshaft.

they actually build a specific cam for towing purposes on that one and it does help it ,this will give you better low end torque and not a lot of high end horse power, your power range will be from 1000 rpms up to about 3500,and that's about it,but it will tow really well, good luck.,,on that one also it will have a good cruising speed of about 55-60 mph while towing, that's what we got from ours towing a trailer loaded down .

I'd suggest calling Comp Camshaft's tech department. Explain to them how you want your truck to perform, and ask them to recommend one that will work to meet your needs.

They have a number of torque cam's that will fit the engine that will perform much better than an RV Cam. In terms of torque and performance.

You will need to know your transmisstion type, rear-end ratio and whether you've installed any performance chips/computer into your truck.

An intake manifold is where the air fuel mixture go's into the engine if your rod bearings are goin out then it might be cheaper to just get another motor but if I were you I would get a second opinion because they might be tryin to screw you out of alot of money. The cam shaft is what opens and closes the valves that let in Air/fuel mix and let exaust out of the motor it is important that the cames are good or the economy and performance of the engine will be bad.
