I am doing a debate and Im on the negative side of it. Its for global warming and using a nuclear power policy to reduce CO2 emissions....This is just a project-nothing real so please I dont need any opinions on what you think about it...I just need a plain simple answer on how long it takes to build power plants and where you got the source...

Westinghouse cites 3y6 months from first concrete pouring to the loading of fuel. It could probably be done faster if needed, say 30 months if expedited.

The Hanford plant in Washington state near me started construction in '72 and started producing power in 1984. 12 years. But a lot of that time was not construction but delays due to lawsuits and othe problems.
In contrast, the Tricastin plant in France started construction in '72 and was finished in 74.... just two years. Many nuclear plants were built in France in the 70's and only took a few years each.

Construction is quick. Arguing with the next-door neighbors and those who are determined to torpedo the project is what takes years and makes the completion a long process.
