I just got a pedometer and want to know how many steps I should walk each day. Also do u know how many steps are in a mile?

I also have a workout dvd, should i do that on my 2 days off or use that on the days that i walk.? I want to walk 5 days.

How many steps in a mile is an individual thing, there is a calculation for working it out using your own step length. My pedometer came with instructions on how to do this but the instructions have gone bye bye now. sorry.

Walk normally for one week and write down each day the number of steps you took. Take the average and increase by 10% per week until you get to a point where you lose weight. When I started wearing a pedometer in October 2005, my baseline was 6000 steps per day. Today, I typically walk over 30,000 steps everyday. There are about 2,000 steps per mile and you burn approximately 100 calories for each mile that you walk/run. To maintain your weight, a minimum of 11,000 steps is recommended. Some people need to take more steps because of their metabolism.
