Depends on whether the dental plan includes orthodontics. To the best of my knowledge, the vast majority of dental plans do not cover braces unless there is a genuine medical necessity - meaning braces for the sake of straighter teeth probably wouldn't be covered. That being said, you really need to check with your health insurance company to see if this would be covered.

Are Braces Covered By Insurance

With Blue Cross, that insurance usually pays like half of the costs or up to almost 75% of the cost. I had braces and i happen to have that same insurance, and i got the metal braces which are a little more pricier but are more effective than the clear ones. With the metal braces teh insurance covered only 60% and my parents were left to pay $400. I hope this helps you.

Some braces are covered by insurance, it depends on the type of brace, what you need it for, and sometimes whether or not you have a prescription from a doctor. You should call your insurance company to get specifics on what is covered. If your particular policy (there are many kinds) covers orthodontia then there is always a lifetime maximum on what they pay usually $1000.00 towards your braces. The company will not pay this to the orthodontist all at once, they will pay it out over a two year period since you usually have to wear a full set of braces that long anyway. Braces usually cost $4000. You can pay 2000.00 down and they will let you make monthly payments on the balance.

If your health insurance plan covers orthodontics treatments, it may include the expenditure for braces. Nevertheless, I can recommend you a reputed and especially affordable insurance comp which covers the overall cost of orthodontists: http://healthinsurancecheck.org/healthinsurance-includingorthodontics So why not change to a more affordable insurance? I've got good experience with them.

If you coverage has an orthodontic rider it will cover "some" of the cost associated with braces.

Keep in mind, most policies have limited benefits in this arena. Very limited benefits. It is not out of the ordinary to see only a 50% payment upto $2000 or so.

I am uncertain that it does but you will have to check your policy. I am sure for a good price, they would insure you under some dental plan. Braces are cosmetic while the open heart surgery was life threatening.
I had to pay $4,000. several years ago for my son's. I wouldn't know what it would cost today to have it done.

Blue Cross Blue Shield has a wide variety of plans on the market, so it's not possible to state whether or not your particular plan will cover orthodontia.

Generally, insurance plans won't cover it, unless you have a really 'premier quality' plan. Check with the insurer to determine whether your particular plans offers orthodontia coverage.
