The strongest belief amongst all ancient people and religions which survives is the belief in thepower of the SUN, or RA as the Egyptians call him. As recent as Aztec and Mayan culture worshipped Sun God.
In India, a festival of Chchatt sees Millions congregate along river banks, sea shores, ponds and lakes paying obeisance to The Sun. He is shown drawing the chariot of Time with 24 horses in his carriage. Hinduism is known to be over 10000 years, and over 1000 books survive from the 12000 treatises writtena nd stored in an ancient library that was razed down by invaders of the time.
A caste system by birth exists in India where a clan is named after the SUN, and has mythological origins including Lord Rama who has a following of over 1 Billion across India, Thailand and Indonesia even as of today !

You've recieved some good answers already...
It's really up for grabs but I think that it would have resembled the nature based polytheistic paganism...
They might have realized that the sun gives life and light and seen it as "god" and they might have realized that the ocean brings storms on to the land and recognized it as "that other mean guy"...
It cracks me up that some of the "christians" on here want to give you the only answer that we know is WRONG...
We know with some certainty that Christianity (including Judaism and Islam along with it) is much newer than many other religions - so to say "adam's relationship with god" is incorrect because it is a non sequitur...
In other words - they assume hearsay and have no evidence other than their own belief.
And before you hit that thumbs down - my CHRISTIAN friends agree with me... they are intelligent people who understand the meaning of the word "conjecture".

Paganism, specifically goddess worship. Archeaologists have found goddess figures all over Europe. An example is the Venus of Willendorf.
Early man believed that women gave life and related that to agriculture. This lead to goddess worship.

Adam and Eve communicated with God the Father and creator of all of us. This was the first and only religion on Earth for a long time. Other religions arose from men who still remembered the essence of God but had forgotten about who He was and tried to find Him again.

The first man, Adam, knew his creator. Early in man's history, everyone knew who God was. It was when man turned his back on the true God, that all the various forms of false religion came into existence. Man started to worsuip the sun, the moon, trees, snakes, bugs, you name it.

how convenient...
The first religion was that of the smart caveman who convinced the dumber cavemen to worship him.

I'm pretty sure that labels didn't exist back then, but the religion was outside of any Abrahamic religion, thus making it Paganism.
