Oh dear people...........
Muslims, Jews, Christians, gay............
Arent we a screwed up bunch?
Religions are an excuse to let us judge others who arent like we are.
Religion allows us to cast others aside those who arent as religious as we are, or who dont really understand what we think we understand about God, or, the creator.
Religion allows us to believe that a devil lets the bad things happen to us and god makes the good stuff happen.
Religion allows us to give money to God, and watch adverts on TV asking us to give and donate money to the unfortunate,
when the representatives of the religions sit on billions of dollars, in buildings worth millions of dollars, wearing gold clad garments.
Or, at the other end of the scale beating hacking and killing those who arent religious enough, even though they are of the same faith.
Can anyone think that the creator of all of us maybe had no intention of us having religions but to have managed to exist together just because we are all like creations of the creator?
To think otherwise is human, not godly.
Our religions tell us that god is vengeful and punishing.
Why would the creator, create us in his own image and give us free will only to punish us for using it?
Why would the creator be vengeful and punish that which it created?
It would be punishing itself for creating something in its own image!
Doesnt add up does it?
Isnt it a fact that we humans were the ones who created all the stories about angels and devils and wars between them (in ALL religions) so that we could make sense of something beyond our abilty to understand, that is, good, bad and where we came from?
And what about those who claim to be intouch with god, oh yes god told me too..........god spoke to me.............you must follow me............
We are small minded self centred beings who are so stupid and scared, that after all these years, we still believe what we have been told by our parents and teachers, so much so that we have lost the ability to ask if what we are being told is reality.
We have someone in control of millions, who claims to be the living human representative of "God" on earth.
How arrogant.
Some believe it.
How silly
The creator has a sense of humour and isnt easily offended by much of anything we say or do.
The creator invented blasphemy and profanity and sick jokes.
We need to open our minds a little, people.
We are creating for ourselves barriers and hardships that are only there because of religions.
And those who run the religions savour the power and the control........oh .....and did I mention the money?
Didnt "God" create us in its own image?
Does that mean that the creator is stupid and ugly like we are?
This is only the opinion of one man.

I'm not sure that would be very realistic.
Basically, what you're suggesting is that people of thousands of different faiths should suppress everything they believe in and never do anything to act on it. Let me put forward an a religious example to illustrate:
Most denominations of Christianity believe that abortion is murder. Under your proposal, Christians should stand by idly and let 3,000 murders take place everyday. When someone is 100 percent convinced that abortion is murder, and that there are what he/she believes to be 3,000 murders taking place everyday, Its probably doubtful to expect him/her to just "leave it all alone."
On the flip side, most Jews believe that abortion is not only morally acceptable but a woman's right. Under your proposal, Jews should stand by idly and watch womens rights get destroyed. When a Jew is 100 percent convinced that abortion is morally acceptable and a woman's right, then it is equally unrealistic to expect him/her to just "leave it all alone."
My point is that a lot of people (both religious and non-religious) "know" that they are always "right" and that the "wrongdoers" have to be stopped because what they are doing, according to them, is the epitomy of disgust.

yah, leaving each others' businesses alone may help resolve wars and disagreements, but sometimes issues like what you've mentioned may affect others in a way we can never point a finger at. everyone is concerned about everyone, which is good, and if one person thinks that the other is not doing right, and may lead this person to harm, then the best way to save him is by interfering.....so we can't totally just ignore it.

We can't leave each other alone because we all live together and work together. We could accept that different opinions are healthy and respect each other. I love that no two people are exactly alike. The same thing that makes life complicated makes it worth living.

As an atheist, it's not the criticizing that bothers me. What bothers me is when Christians (or any person for that matter) attempt to force their beliefs on me. People are going to believe different things, I just expect everyone to be respectful of the beliefs of others.

I agree. The human race is finding it hard to respect other peoples feelings and beliefs. If we left eachother alone world peace could hopefully follow. It's interesting that so many people share this view but we still have world conlict.

Great question. Its part of human nature to hate those that are different from us. Even those who are really giving have a flash of "should I really be doing this" We've been doing that for the past two million years of human history, and I see no reason that it's going to stop any time soon.

Funny how the most peaceful people tend to be Agnostic. There is nothing wrong with any of those religions...the problem is with religious fanatics--who think it's their way or no way at all.

That's quite idealistic of you. Unfortunately, this is a time honored tradition of shoving people's beliefs down each others throats. It's been going on since forever.
If people can convince just one person that they are right, somehow it just confirms to them that they themselves are on the correct path.

I couldn't have said it better myself.
The sad, sad truth is, though..
Every country, every religion, every culture, every society, state and town has their idiots.
If you ask me, I think it's best to ignore idiots, if you ignore them long enough, they will eventually shut up.
Once we've managed to ignore those who look down upon people simply due to their faith, sexual orientation.
Christians have a right to believe what they want.
Atheists have a right to....well, dis-believe what they want.
Muslims have a right to, do what ever it is they do.
Point is, everyone has a right to be themselves, and everyone else need to realize this and respect this.
