Game type: 1/2 NL cash
Your image: LAG
Opponent’s image: Pretty aggressive preflop, tighter on the flop
Your hand: AsQs
The setup: You’ve been playing a very aggressive style on this table, and your opponents have been countering with even more aggression, especially preflop. Three-betting preflop is pretty much the norm, and the table has seen several $100+ pots in the last couple of orbits.

Just two hands ago you flopped a set of 10’s against the player to your left and stacked him when he shoved the turn with pocket KK. This hand you raise to $7 preflop and he flat calls the CO.

Your opponent seems to be a thinking player who has shown flashes of naked aggression but generally seems to have a plan. You lead for $12 into $17, a buck or two less than usual, and he minimum raises you. He hasnt done this yet.

Raise(if so how much) and call a 4-bet

Are you playing limit or no limit? No limit, I raise him 3 times his bet to see what he does. If he comes over the top, I lay it down. If he flat calls, you're probably good. Fixed limit, I probably call him down.

wow, this is a really interesting spot...since he is a thinking player, he is definitely capable of having a monster here, since this flop doesn't have a flush draw and many good players will employ the minraise with a monster in this particular spot...however, you say he has been aggressive, and may very well be tilted from getting broke not too long back

obviously, i think you know and we all know that a fold is not acceptable, and re-raising then calling a 4-bet would be equally as bad...really, i don't like either of the other two options all that much, but i think calling might be a little better, because you give him more rope if he is bluffing and can get off cheaper if he has a hand...really, i think it's a lot more likely to be the second one because i don't think he's making a minraise bluff, he's got something here and for me that takes the raise out of the equation also

bottom line, i would just call and look to see what happens on the turn, and generally i would fold to a reasonable bet without improvement

Well I would break it down to what I figure he could have to raise on the flop. There is no flush or feasible straight draw really so i wouldn't put him on a set thinking he would probably just call this flop. I wouldn't have him on AK. I figure he would have reraised being an agressive preflop player. 2 pair would be possible. As would any suited ace. I would also take into account a possibility of him making a play because of the previous hand and possibly being steamed. I would certainly call the flop raise and see how he reacted to the turn card.

Okay...well, I only have top pair...And you said this guy is pretty tight on the flop... I'm thinking that I would probably just call his bet (was it $12?) and see what the turn holds.

I could also justify raising him, I would triple his raise (so if he raised to $24 I would raise it another $32) the only problem with this is if he was trips or two pair already and is going to re raise me. If he did re raise I think I'd have to lay it down.

Flop is kinda scary, for me, I would raise it, unless I was confident in anything BUT a draw. Hes got nothing, just trying to c where I'm at. So I'm gonna call, and let him fire if I wanna get money from him, or if I'm kinda scared then raise, win the pot there. Of course if this is a novice player than everything changes.

You have a good hand but not the nuts. You need to know now if your hand is the best. The way to find out is to raise a pot-size bet.
