Is anyone here getting as bored as I am with these believers who come on here and ask us if we can prove God doesn't exist (no, we can't) and then they cry, "AHA! Then you're not an atheist, you're an AGNOSTIC!" and then they do their little victory dance. That strikes me as a very small victory indeed.

We can't prove that God doesn't exist, anymore than we can prove than invisible unicorns exist, but we don't take either possibility seriously, for the same reason in both cases. And most of us don't really care what you call us, as long as you don't call us late for dinner.

A third-generation freethinker

Since the word atheist just means a lack of belief in Gods an agnostic certainly qualifies as an atheist.
All the question that you describe demonstrates is that the person asking it has no clue about what agnosticism is actually about.

Maybe I'm wrong,,,third generation freethinker....but just because you followed your family and went down the same road they did......,,doesn't make you a free thinker,,,just the opposite...it just makes you a blind follower.....

I would never ask you to prove God doesn't exist and only immature Christians,,would ask that.....If you don't believe God exist, then fine,,,you are on your own...not all will be saved..I know that....

in basic terms hypocrites think of that atheists are evil. do not pay attention to stuff that meant "Christians" might say. a thank you to tell a real Christan is that a real Christan does not act greater suitable than human beings yet tries to help them. without morals basically think of, human beings may be stealing, killing, and different stuff. And the certainty that even sons and daughters who be responsive to to not take different young ones toys could recommend something, anybody substitute into born with morals. maximum human beings, in case you spot, gradually loose there morals on purpose, and in case you think of that killing and stealing isn't morals, basically think of for a collectively as. numerous issues the bible estimated has got here real like, wars and rumors of wars, daughters against mothers, sons against fathers, and greater stuff. basically study Romans and Revelations. i don't be responsive to if that fluctuate into of any help yet you may get this theology CD by potential of Michel Pearl which will clean numerous up. It substitute into numerous help for me.

I don't think it's that black and white. It's more of a spectrum. Dawkin's himself describes belief in seven categories:

1. Those who are absolutely sure that God exists.
2. Those who fairly sure that God exists.
3. Those who are not sure, but think he might exist.
4. Those who are not sure, with no leanings either way.
5. Those who are not sure, but think he might not exist.
6. Those who fairly sure that God does not exist.
7. Those who are absolutely sure that God doesn't exist.

Well, you are in the religion section...what would you like them to ask? Actually, the fact that you are here in the first place is a victory for them...if you really didn't believe in anything....well....?

The two sides are locked together by their mutual need for each other. The addiction to righteous indignation is very demanding.

It doesn't matter if you can prove it, if you believe it you're atheist. Agnostic is if you believe in a higher power but not specifically God and Jesus and such. On the other hand are you not Christian if you can't prove God exists then?

Far as I'm concerned they can think what they want, it only pisses me off when THEY think it's their place to tell US who/what/how WE are. I think that's up to us, not them.

But I suppose I can't be too surprised by it, it's still a part of that same attitude that was involved in slavery, etc.

You can't prove either, is the problem.

I'm also a Santa-agnostic, since I only believe he doesn't exist. The truth is, everyone is at least a little agnostic. No one completely rules out God, we just dismiss him because he's no more plausible than an invisible dragon in your garage.
