I am Natasha, I am using my boyfriends account, and I have a 10 month old kitten who was fixed last month, and I feel like he doesn't like me. I try to be really gentile and loving and when he cries I try my best to make him feel better, I get on the floor with him and try to play, Im not sure what Im doing wrong or what to do, I want him to come up to me on his own, he only comes up to me and is affectionate when Im on the toilet...whats that about?????

If your kitten did not like you, he would not visit you in the bathroom. Even though this is not how you expect him to show his affection, he does like you.

I have a cat, Harvey, who wants to be snuggled and petted all day, every day. I have another, Sammie, who can stand to be petted only for about 3 minutes at a time, a couple times a day; and if I miss a day, she doesn't mind. I know they both love me, and I love them. I accept them as they are, because I know Sammie simply gets overwhelmed with what she is feeling. Harvey made friends with my boyfriend right away, but it has taken Sammie 2 years of living with the boyfriend to feel comfortable with him. With Harvey, I was there when he was born, and he has always had confidence that he would be taken care of. Sammie, I found her as a tiny kitten up in a tree after a rainstorm, malnurished and shivering - who knows what else happened to the poor little thing to make her so scared all the time. Maybe your kitten had a hard time before he came to live with you, and this is the best he can do.

As for play, maybe try some different types of toys with your kitten - some interactive that you can play with him with, and some he can play with by himself. My cats love hiding in paper grocery bags, playing with the rings from milk bottle caps, and we got a stick with a string that has some little toy fishies at the end - those are the favorite toys here, but there are many others out there. They loved ping pong balls too, but those all got lost.

There are some toys that hide treats inside, letting a treat fall out as the cat plays with it. That might be worth a try.

If he is affectionate when you are on the toilet, then he likes you. He may not want to deal with you otherwise, but that is just the way some cats are. He isn't fully adult yet and when he is this may well change. I have found that neutered male cats are the most affectionate, but some take longer than others to get there.

Just like humans, cats can be shown love in many ways. For instance one human might feel loved by a hug while another will feel more loved with a present. While yet another might find a nice letter or just a chore done for them to be satisfying.

In other words, find out what makes your kitty feel loved. Does it like toys? Buy it a new toy: maybe a huge fun scratching play post. Does it like to eat? Get it some tasty treats or some extra special kitty food.

Find out what HE likes. Do that and he will feel loved.

I have a kitty cat named Fluffy who does not like being petted a lot. I only pet her a little bit and she is content with that. She lets me know when she wants a special belly rub.

Cats are very sensitive , and even if you dont say anything they could detect from your action and thoughts, this cat maybe knows , that you are just depending to his masters living, so it wants you to do something. And on the toilet , it thought, that while you are in there and you powerless to defend yourself , then it becomes gentle to you....

if he just got fixed then he will need a little adjusting. he will come to you o his own time. remember cats are very independen creatures and dont likt to be smothered. give him some space and when he is ready he will come to you. and as for the bathroom thing that is weird. maybe you should shut the door?
