Start with the first book of the Old Testament and then go on to read the New Testament. After you finish the New Testament, then return and finish the Old Testament.
The Book of Genesis has sometimes been called the "seed-plot" of the entire Bible. Most of the major doctrines in the Bible are introduced in "seed" form in the Book of Genesis. Along with the fall of man, God's promise of salvation or redemption is recorded (Genesis 3:15). The doctrines of creation, imputation of sin, justification, atonement, depravity, wrath, grace, sovereignty, responsibility, and many more are all addressed in this "seed" Book called Genesis.
Many of the great questions of life are answered in Genesis. (1) Where have I come from? (answered in Genesis 1:1) (2) Why am I here? (answered in Genesis 15:6) (3) Where am I going? (answered in Genesis 25:8). Genesis has appeal to the scientist, the historian, the theologian, the housewife, the farmer, the traveler, and the man or woman of God. It is a fitting beginning for God's story of His love for mankind, the Bible.

You have already answered your questions as to the identity of God, now it is best that you set yourself upon the right path to Him. You have done well.
I recommend going to a local congregation of the Christian church, if you have not already done so, and approach the minister there with the words of the apostles. They taught that we must repent, and be baptized for the forgiveness of our sins, and we will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.Their guidance and that of the minister will prove more than sufficient to answer many questions that have a tendency to linger if not properly resolved. And then there is the matter of your spouse. Such good news is never to be kept in secret. God has a special place for him in your life.
Reach out to Christians you can see and hear. That is why so many have already given advice to start by reading the Gospel according to John.

The following is an answer I wish I had been given so many years ago when I 1st got saved. By the way, bless you, and welcome.
For the next month you should read and meditate over the small book of 1st John (5 chapters easy read once a day). The next 30 days is the Gospel of John (devide it up so you can read this twice in 30 days).
This advice is from a little book by Tim LaHaye called "How to study the Bible for yourself" (I also recommend you get this book asap). These two passages of the Apostle John will remind you and firmly ground you in "THE LOVE OF GOD THAT HE HAS FOR YOU".
The enemy will try to steal this away from you as fast as he can, (for me I lost this for 15 years) the idea that God truly Loves you is imbedded in 1st John, and the Gospel of John. The repetition will find it's way into your heart and at the end of 60 days you will know God loves you.
Many a good Christian in this community several are in my friends list. Get in a good strong bible teaching church that believes in Praising God, and seeks to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.
Pray every day and read some of Gods word each day, I highly recommend The MacArthur Daily study Bible, or the Womens Daily Devotional Bible ( I use the Mens version myself) as both of these Bibles will get you thru the Word of God in 1 year(The latter is good chice for a new Christian, the MacArthur would be good your 2nd year around, but I personally prefer the MacArthur version)
You have so much to see and look forward to, aside from get into prayer and getting the word in your life, don't forget to ask for God to forgive you when you know you have failed Him, and never, ever, ever, no never fear to ask for forgiveness. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, God is faithfull and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. That is a promise that never ends, until he comes for us or we die (in this life). The next life...there is no sin.
Praise God for you, and Blessings of Christ be upon you

Praise God! I am so overjoyed to hear this news. May God richly bless you as you continue to grow in faith. Many people already commented on where to begin with the Bible, so I won't add much. Just remember, that it is ultimately God who is your teacher through His Spirit in you. Reading the Bible is one thing, but being fed by God through it is another. Jesus said anyone who is thirsty, let him come to me. He promised not only to quench this thirst, but that the person (you) would become a spring on this living water for others as well. It is not something you do through your efforts, but God does within you.
The book of Romans may be a good start. Below you will find some online resources for you to check out.

I will try to pay attention to your questions from now on and answer them if I can.

First, let me make a small correction: You did not find God. He found you.
Now, you can start anywhere you want to in the Bible. If you study prayerfully and faithfully (every day, without fail), God will reveal things to you as you go along. Do not be discouraged if it's difficult at first. Be persistent, and remember to pray for wisdom and guidance.

The Gospels. I like the Gospel of John. It is more personal, and descriptive. The Gospels will tell you all about Jesus, why He came, why He died, and the love He has for us. Then, you can read whatever you like. I would advise you to read the New Testament first, though, then go back into the Old Testament. Or, you can just go back and forth if you like. Psalms are wonderful, and Proverbs is all about life. It's great. It would be good if you found a good church to go to, so you can be around people who love the Lord, and maybe get into some Bible study. God Bless you, and I am so happy to hear you have been saved!!! Praise the Lord!

the bible is a simple book for the beginning reader, and yet deep enough to take years to feel you are getting somewhere.
When I became a christian, I read matthew about 3 or 4 times. I read acts at least 2 times and then read the other gospels a few times.
Romans is a deep book and I spent the better part of my time in iraq reading it.
this is what I would recommend to you. Read any one of the gospels, but luke, matthew and john or mark in that order. Luke is easy reading, matthew deals with all the prophesies that Jesus fulfilled and john deals with the gentle side of the LORD while dealing with the stubborn jew.
Proverbs has 31 chapters so each day, read one chapter, for the day of the month. Don't worry if you do not understand, they are meant for meditation. One of the points you will notice is how proverbs deals with issues unique to city dwelling people while addressing the issues of living outside of cities.
email me if you wish. Keep this in mind. The bible is spiritual food and as you read it, meditate on it, your faith will grow. also pray about everything and seek God's best for you and your family if you have one. Do not be afraid to witness to others about your faith but do understand a lot of people are jaded and don't care about God, hate Jesus and will dispise you.
i find a lot of problems with your questions and anwers and do not believe you are sincere, if that is the case, I hope you will repent

A good place to start is the four gospels...the first four books in the New Testament--Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
If there is anything else I can help you with I'd be happy to. You can e-mail me if you like. :))

Typically it is suggested that your read the four Gospels...Matthew, Mark, Luke and John...Most people recommend that you start with John...Also, read the proverbs, there are 31 of them, read one every day of the month. There is so much wisdom in there...Congratulations on your decision to ask Jesus into your heart...You will find as you read the Bible and let it sink in that your life will make a drastic change for the better. Not that life gets any easier but your attitude will be better and whenever things look dim all you need do is look to Jesus, He's your light...
