There is Hades (in the Greek), Sheol (in the Hebrew), Hell (also called the Lake of Fire which exists on a spiritual plane.

Hades was comprised of two departments: Paradise (where the old testament saints went) and the place of torment (where the unrighteous went).

It is likely in the Earth.

Sheol is the Bottomless Pit - where the fallen angels were sent. There are not any people in Sheol - bottomless pit.

It could be that Sheol is another compartment of Hades, but I do not think it is.

Hell, the Lake of Fire, is not on the earth. It's location is not known. There is nothing in Hell at this time. At the end of time, those in Hades-Sheol will be cast into Hell with the Devil, the AntiChrist and the False Prophet.
