according to the catholic church yes they would go to hell. Isn't that great, you are living in misery on earth and going through that much pain that you would take your life and then the "god" who forgives and loves you then tells you your not welcome in heaven and get your behind down to hell!
Isn't Christianity a beautiful religion?!?!
I can't beleive the amount of idiots that have answered this question stating that the person should know that what there doing is unchristian. ARE YOU PEOPLE NUTS? Theses people can't function they have lost the will to live, there life has become so bad. Get your head out of that stupid book and wake up and smell the coffee.

I don't think that "good" Christians take their own life, or anyone else's for that matter. No good Christian would take their own life, the life our Creator has gifted us with, what for? It's like throwing away that gift, there's no respect in that. I do think that people who commit suicide go to hell, but I'm not sure. Maybe not? But who knows. I believe that Satan tells them to do it, it's not like Jesus makes them kill themselves.

I don't believe they go to hell. I believe that anyone who commits suicide is mentally ill and not in their right mind. I think God takes that into consideration.

No, that is a rediculous heresy promulgated by the Catholic church that has no biblical basis. It is what I refer to as a traditional practice, not a scriptural one. The logic behind it was that since you needed to ask for forgiveness for your sins after the fact, if you killed yourself then you couldn't ask and would die unabsolved. This puts a limit on the power and grace of Christ that is totally unfounded and unsupported by scripture. (What the Bible says is that "My grace is sufficient for thee" and that the only unforgiveable sin is "blasphemy against the Holy Spirit".)
No mainstream protestant denomination that I am aware of believes that suicides automatically go to Hell.

If a christian commited suicide they go straight to hell.if this person was really a christian they should have known not to commit suicide.commiting suicide is one of the things god will not forgive you for.also those who do not believe there is a hell read the book "the divine revelation of hell".

Of course not. Suicides are not thinking rationally or sanely, in anyone's account, religion or no. Sometimes their depression is chemical, sometimes it's situational, sometimes physical.
The point is that God knows His child is sick; what would you do as a father? Condemn a child because they are mentally unbalanced, or bring them home where they can be whole and joyous again?

being christian has little to do with the question at hand. murder is the most offencive thing a human can do. so to kill one self is to take your life off of this earth. therefore its murdering your self. bc your commiting the most hanus act and it is to your self it is an extreamly bad cause, reguardless of where your next destination may be.
