LOL. That is an old wives tale. My mother to this day still tries to put a tiny piece of wet cotton ball on a baby's forehead for hiccups to go away. Doesn't work.

hehe yah heard of it too...and i did that to my son cause my mother-in-law whine about it that it should be that way and bragging that it helps...it actually never help my sons hiccup to go away..instead it made my son look ridiculous with string on his forehead...
hmm well its an old saying....but modern days now doctors can tell that the baby just need water and liquid...and thats it and not some string stuck on a babys forehead i mean come on it makes the baby look ridiculous dont you think so?

No,the only thing you can do is to patiently wait the hiccups out and try to comfort or distract your baby while they have the hiccups. Frequent burping during feeding may decrease the instances of hiccups, but once they start there is very little that you can do.

No, only if you tie it tightly around the neck!
If you don't put the red string on his forehead, and go have a cup of tea, "que miraculo!" THE HICCUPS WILL GO AWAY. In fact, whatever you do, they will go away.
Of the hundreds of supersitions I have heard of, this is one of the most ridiculous.

No, sounds like a myth or an old wivestale to me.
Cuz let's think about this realistically...
putting a piece of freakin' red string on his forehead isn't gonna do crap!
that's my opinion.

this is so absurd that it is not even an old wives tale. It might be difficult to get the kid to breathe into a paper bag like adults cure hiccups, but talk to your pediatrician for solutions.
