I have a grandma that cries every time I come to my friend's house in her town. I talk to her on the phone one day because she saw me at a church dinner and I didn't talk to her. We went home and she called and was mad because I didn't come to her house. I tried to tell her that I was only there for one day, but she started crying and hung up. I called her back later and told her that I was only there for one day and she got all cleared up. The strange thing of it is that she started being mad and flustered to being sad and crying. What should I do to make her feel less sad about me going to my friend's house?

I feel bad for her. She cries because she missed you. Go see her or have lunch with her of something. Shame on you!

I am not a Grandma yet, but I kind of understand her situation. You know you are the daughter of her son or daughter...grandkids are very special to Grandmas, plus think about that they rasied all of her kids and now that everyone is grown up, they forget about her....we all do that. But that's not cool, spend few minutes to visit her, it won't take more than 20 minutes..and you'll spend many hours with your friends......just be with her, enjoy her...one day, she won't be there anymore. Grandmas are alone....

Take a specific trip to see her. Or, go out to lunch with her on a day you are with your friend. Even if it kills you, apologize for not seeing her and let her know that you care about her. I imagine she's lonely!
