I have an on going dispute about parking with my neighbor. Keep in mind parking is hard to find in my area.

There is a space that is partially red and if one car is willing to park at least 6 inches into the red then you can fit 2 cars in that spot. If you are not willing to park into the red then it can only fit one car. I am NOT willing to park into the red as I do not want to get a ticket. My neighbor says it is "just fine" to park in the red and he does it all of the time to allow for another space. When I refuse to park in the red I get nasty notes on my car and even yelled at. I just tell him that I am not parking in the red!

What can I do? I just don't want any kind of fights nor do I want a ticket.

I just keep telling him that HE can park in the red all he wants but that I am not doing it.

Please help!

Next time you get a nasty note call the police and explain the ongoing dispute and ask them to come out and explain to your neighbor that they are harrassing you and that its illegal to park even one inch into the red spot. Save the notes too.

Yes, I agree with the other respondent. He's commiting at least three offenses here, Parking in the red, coercing you to commit a crime and threatening you (which is assault and very serious). The cops might not do anything, but it's good to go ahead and get a record or the behavoir int he official record.

This guy sounds like a real Putz, too - he wants to spot, but he wants you to take the risk. Heck with him.

If you feel it is breaking the law to park in the red, then don't do it, despite what your neighbor thinks. Just ignore his nasty notes and yelling, and do what you think is proper.

my neighbour has 4 cars! He has off road car port with enough space for 2 cars and only 1 parked there. At the back of the property he has 2 double garages with 1 car in them. We live in a fairly narrow street and we have 1 car that we find it near impossible to park in?

You're doing the right thing. Don't fight, report him to the police. He's obviously threatening you.

Ignore the moron. Keep obeying the rules.

What do you care what he thinks.
