My father's gun was found by the police. The police have the gun but they have not contacted us about getting it back. The gun is registered to my father. Can my brother, who is age 24, retrieve the gun from the police even though it is technically my fathers?

Your brother does not own the gun, so he cannot pick it up. Only your father can pick it up if he can prove it is his.
"My father's gun was found by the police", what do you mean "found", I smell something fishy here.

My brother had his house broken into and the thieves made off with several of his guns. Once the Police recovered them from the thief, the officers refused to return the guns to him.

And my brother was a licensed gun dealer at the time!

even with a note from your father, it is not likely the police will release it to anyone but the registered owner. Does your brother even have a carry permit ?

first, why do the police have the gun? what do you mean they FOUND IT? was it wandering down the street under a shirt, or did they find it, because it was pointed at some one? you forgot to mention why papa can't go get his own gun. and, thats who has to get his gun,HIM. if he did a no no,he'll probably never see that gun again.
if you're in california, forget it.
