My boyfriend is paying for a medical procedure I need to have with his credit card over the phone. I am 99% he won't back out on payment...But would it be possible for him to pay on his credit card....then decide to back out and take back the payment and I would be stuck with the bill? I am just kinda worried because the procedure is 10,00 and If I get stuck with the bill I wouldn't be able to pay. Someone told me that you get 3 days to take back a credit card payment that large? Someone please give me advice! Once someone says that they will pay for your procedure are THEY responsible for payment or could it fall back on you?

sorry type it is $10,000

Also, when he is paying, HIPPA laws prevent him from seeing any private medical information correct? Just because he is paying doens't mena he will see my personal medical report right?

Thanks to all of you that provided advice. It is greatly appreciated.

As for the person that said I am a drain to society.....Sorry I am not an able bodied person. I have a serious medical that causes me to be bed ridden. Until I have surgery I have no hope of ever holding down a job. Keep in mind I am only 18 years old. What do you expect!!

Instead of paying on credit card why doesn't your boyfriend make arrangement to pay hospital on installment basis.
Many hospitals have this facility and the interest rate is lower than your credit card.
To answer you question depends on the credit card.
If you do pay with your credit card the responsibility falls on you and not your boyfriend because it is your credit card.

No matter who pays, you will ultimately be responsible for the bill. I would not expect any hospital to ever deviate from this policy.
A credit card user can dispute any charge for any reason. That does not mean the charge will be reversed. Both sides would have to present their case to the credit card company. But there is no 3 day right of rescission.
Once the card is swiped and an authorization number is given the transaction is complete.
Transactions over the phone may be easier to dispute. I am surprised the hospital would do that. Many require the person to bring the card, show ID, swipe the card and sign a receipt.

If someone puts a charge on a credit card and it goes through he is responsible the only way to not have a charge after is to get a credit from the merchant, meaning they give a refund.

Or he does not have a credit limit that high. But usually everything is done electronically now so it is approved or disapproved right away. If it is not done like this, then the bill goes through the credit card co later and if does not have sufficent limit they will not pay. Then I would assume the medical facility will send him a bill and you as well.

He who owns the credit card is responsible for paying the balance due. If your boyfriend (the cardholder) signs for a $10K medical procedure he'll have to eventually pay it. The 3 day rule might be valid for goods that can be returned, or future services, but in the case of signing for a charge AFTER the medical procedure, I doubt they'll let him back out. Unless he asks you to sign an I.O.U., I don't think he could even take you to court for it because it could be considered a gift. I wish you a speedy recovery!

Pay for your own procedure and stop being a drain on society and the people around you. You need to see a mental health professional.
