im doing an assignment where i have to prove that guns should be banned. i need court cases and good reasons why they should ban them. i know the opposing side is probably going to say ""shouldnt they not be banned because they help police officers and protect people?" i need a strong argument against that...please help as soon as u can...10 points for most helpful answer...thanks

How about reading the 2nd amendment jerk.
Remember, the 2nd amendment protects the 1st.
Also, banning guns from law abiding citizens would only leave the criminals with guns. Do you think if guns are banned all criminals are going to turn them in? If you do then you are as stupid as the blonde girl below me!

guns kill every single day they endanger ppl so much lot and lots of ppl die daily because they were shot. if they don't ban them then a burgler can easily kill u in ur sleep. although they come in handy for protection if u can't get it ready to shoot before ur shot then bye bye. police officers have been shot by guns in the past. not only that but an officers goal isn't to kill thats what a gun will do; their goal is to take ppl to court and let a judge decide weather u deserve to get shot.

They fall in the hands of the wrong people and then they end up robbing people and killing them just for $5 in their pocket. That would be a good reason to ban guns. Also there was a case here in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where a man went on a shooting spree killing all amish school girls. Another court case would be Jonnie Versachi who was gunned down on the front steps of his house.

You need to find out what the standard is for overriding a constitutional right (the right to bear arms). If you have access to westlaw or lexus that would help. For the record, the only way to override a constitutional amendment is with a new amendment.

I'd argue the increase in school shootings is a direct connection to violence in the media and video games. No guns would prevent school shootings.

I also had to write a paper on this and all I did was google gun control, gun statistics etc and they was so much out there goodluck
