Do you really ever use it?

I have always bought the extended warranty, but never used it in all the years of buying expensive items.
I guess they just make you feel like have insurance on it, but really, you never seem to use it.
Oh I'm not cheap!

Mostly no. The prices for these extended warranty are very high and most of the time the contract conditions are worst.

However, in case of items like laptop or a desktop computer or a high end TV, it's worth looking into it. Read the fine print though.

Good luck.

No I don't. They are not good value.

The fact is that most appliances/equipment fails either very early in its life, usually well within the manufacturer's standard warranty period, or very late.

The failure rate is initially very high and falls to a low rate fairly quickly. It stays low for many many years and eventually starts to rise again, rising rapidly.

Plotting a graph of failure rate in the vertical axis versus time in the horizontal gives a so-called bath-tub curve - high at each end and flat along most of its length.

No, I never get the extended warranty. It seems to me that a new appliance shouldn't need it, and usually I have had no need to use it.

Absolutely not. Prices drop too much. If you think you need it, get a better brand.
