Jereme K,
I don't need it either. I actually hate myself on the stuff. So I don't use it. But I recognize that some don't even think that you can be Christian and believe what I believe. And I thought that believing n Jesus Christ is what is needed to be a Christian. I guess some of these other Christians have found another way! lol

The Pharisees are here tonight I see.

Medical marijuana, is legal in Oregon.
complete with a permit to grow, for personal use.
however it has not lowered the price of it for those, without a prescription,
and we still have people going to jail for selling it illegally.

I think for an adult that wants to come home and relax after a hard day at work-YES! or anyone who is ill and it helps them-Yes.

{Everything} in life needs a balance.

I did it from 12 years of age to 24( iam 29 now)....
Its up to the individual if they will succeed in life- so if a simple weed can distract you from that than please don't do it, And be careful of other stuff... not just drugs can be a distraction to someone.

I see a lot of people that are successful and still do it.
So that can Not be an excuse.
--------------------
My husband is disabled in his left ankle from falling down steps and was twisted all up.....They cut a bundle of nerves to take a bone out of his ankle...his back also is shaped like a 'Z'( I seen the x-rays)..... He did all the drugs they gave him and 6 years ago(when we started church) he quit all of them including marijuana. He does not sleep very good now during his bad days guess when the pressure is low in the atmosphere...but he always has pain in his ankle. BUT I tell him every now and then probably once a year to take a couple drags thats is all he needs now anyways(we used to smoke an oz in a week....) anyways...He gets the best rest(when smoked a little)but he does not want to rely on it NOW ya know...because he could easily form the habit again so I am proud of him for doing that...when i met him he was a crutches and was not working....he is now working and has not used his cane in 5 years....and we have came a long ways.
Now he will drink a couple drinks because it legal...I'd rather for the weed to be legal....YES!!

I am not a marijuana user and I do consider myself a christian. However, I do believe that marijuana should be legalized. Beside the fact that marijuana has been scientifically proven medically beneficial to cancer patients I also believe that it should be legalized for recreational use.

Laws in our country have already made tobacco and alcohol, both mind altering drugs just like marijuana, legal to consume.

Also, I am not aware of anyone who has ever died from an overdose on marijuana, like many have while consuming alcohol.

Why? Paul did say that "for me all things are permissible, but not all things are expedient." In other words, for the born again Christian all things are allowed, but not all things are good for us. When deciding what to do, you must ask yourself three questions: 1) Is it best? 2) Does it bind? 3) Does it build? If others who do not believe see you smoking marijuana and they are doing the same things, where then is your witness for Christ? It is ruined. They may believe that they are ok in their sin because you are doing the same things (Romans 2:1). Furthermore, does what you do enslave you to things not of God? Marijuana is a shackle to the things of the world, and I know no one who has smoked it and come to greater understanding of God, but I do know many who have become more vulnerable to spiritual forces. Remember that we are called upon by God to be diligent and sober-minded so that we can be wary of the attacks of the devil. Then, finally, the question of "Does it build?" Marijuana doesn't build anything but fortunes for those who sell it, and not even them if they also use it. So, in closing, it is not best, it does bind, and it does not build. There is no profit to the human condition or the soul/spirit of man in using marijuana, thus we should not endeavor to legalize it.

I don't think it's a good idea.
In Hebrew Culture drug use is associated with sorcery.
Paul and the other apostles stress meeting or exceeding the moral standards of the society we find ourselves in. There's no good reason to use marijuana, though I suppose we should make an exception for Glaucoma patients... that's what they tell me.
Finally, I would say that marijuana, like alcohol in excess takes us out of reality. I think Reality is what God wants us to experience. I think when we have the option to opt out of life, we miss life's lessons.

Should be decriminalized if not completely legalized. The problem is that the US government won't have much revenue from these taxes. Although heavily psycho-active, marijuana is physically non-addictive. This is not to say it is not "habit-forming". You can form a bad-habit out of anything if you really tried. Pot and chocolates are no exceptions. But that's more of a mental state than a physical addiction where a user MUST have his drug or get sick. I've been pot-free for 3 years and counting and honestly I don't even think about it because I'm just too busy to even smoke it.

I also know though that if I do smoke it I will get even lazier than I am already. That in itself is deterrent enough for me. Should it be legalized? Sure! Should it be controlled? Absolutely! But control it the way you control cigarettes and alcohol. It would be much better than our system today where we send kids to prison for possession.

In a sense of being a Christian, I firmly believe in decriminalization. Sending people to prison for possession of marijuana is the wrong way to go. In these prisons a petty thief graduates into grand larcenists and maybe even into killers. Are we caring for our brothers in this way as we are taught? No. This is where the fundamentalist right gets it wrong where they put revenge and justice above their concern for community. Justice certainly, but what is the greater good of the community?

Sorry, m'dear... you get a "no" from this Christian. Yeah, it has something to do with that "body is the temple of the Lord" thingie, but it also has something to do with being "in control" of yourself and your mind.

You ask, what about alcohol? Well, you didn't include that in the question. But as for it... it's "okay" as long as it isn't done to extreme. There's a difference between pot and alcohol.... with alcohol, you CAN have "a little" and have it not impair you. But that is not the case with pot.... any pot impairs.

Have a blessed day.

Not this one.

And to set the record straighter...just because something is legal doesn't make it right.

Marijuana is a narcotic, and it's side effects are proven repeatedly. I grew up around it and saw the plethora of negative effects in friends and family. I will never agree with it's use aside from medically under controlled circumstances.

Abortion is legal, it is certainly not right.

Prostitution is legal in Nevada and it is not right.

Gambling is legal, and it also is not right.

It wouldnt say that immediately. even nonetheless the component of this existence is to have the skill to get excitement from our enterprise. And at an identical time as that would desire to contain utilising a criminal entertainment drug (even nonetheless I dont help it in any respect) it would additionally be a skill up giving UP your enterprise via fact anybody isn't in a sober suggestions set while they are intense. They make undesirable judgements via fact they dont have complete carry close on actuality at an identical time as utilising it. Its like being under the effect of alcohol. you have enterprise to make your mind up directly to drink, yet you provide up enterprise once you replace into under the effect of alcohol. you're extra quite motivated and can reason great great harm to human beings. And which will fall on your head. So i think of yeah, its a unfavorable line. you're willingly putting your self in a challenge to reason harm to others.

I think there should be more research done into the medicinal uses of marijuana, and if it's found that it is equally effective as traditional medicine, there's no reason why it shouldn't be legalized for medicinal purposes.

I don't think it should be legalized completely, but it should be decriminalized. I like how it is in Europe: If a person smokes pot or grows it in their own house for their own use, there's no problem with that. However, if they're carrying in public, it's confiscated and they're fined. I think that's fair.
